Champagne and Coral Vintage Wedding, Houston

This was by far the happiest and most perfect day of my life,” says Houston bride Megan. “My fairy tale wedding came true.” Nothing could delight us more…except, perhaps, getting to look at photos of Megan and James’ vintage-elegant wedding celebration, in shades of champagne, ivory and coral. Of course, at the heart of this lovely Texas wedding was the bride herself, radiant in her keyhole-back Watters bridal gown, gorgeous updo and birdcage veil, surrounded by bridesmaids in flowing coral. Our happiest wishes to the bride and groom—and our thanks to the newlyweds for sharing their perfect day with us…and YOU!

Houston Heights Backyard Wedding Ceremony by Ama by Aisha Photography & Cinema

For their fall wedding, Houstonians Katheryne and Casey knew they wanted “a small, intimate ceremony so that we could have a meaningful event that focused on our family, and so our four dogs could participate,” the bride says. What better spot, then, for their vows, than the autumn-leaf-and-rose-petal-strewn backyard of their Houston Heights home? Shot by Aisha Khan of Ama by Aisha Photography & Cinema (who just happened to be our AWESOME official show photographer at the Jan. 26 I Do! Bridal Soiree at the Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston), the couple’s nuptials are the very picture of relaxed revelry and vintage-touched fun. We couldn’t be happier to share their special day, and lovely pix!

Vintage Blue, Cream and Silver Houston Wedding by Ethan Avery Photography

Q: What do you do when you’re planning a wedding on a tight budget and can’t afford expensive rentals and fancy decorations? A: Make just about everything out of paper! For Kristina’s wedding to Jody, the bride’s friends pitched in to source or craft everything from placemats to paper flowers to pinwheel favors. The results? A delightful landscape of sweet, sentimental, DIY decor and charming vintage touches, along with sweet, creamy floral accents by Something Special in Flowers. And baby, this bride knows how to rock a true “something blue” mani! Big congrats to Kristina and Jody, one of the cutest couples we’ve ever seen.

Houston Videographers Alex & Whitney Tie the Knot in Grand Palm Beach Style

When acclaimed Houston wedding videographers Alex Douglas and Whitney Henderson, of award-winning Sculpting With Time Productions, said their own “I do’s,” it was with glorious Palm Beach, Fla., as their backdrop. The couple’s wedding, with its Royal Poinciana Chapel Gardens ceremony and gorgeous Flagler Museum reception, is so utterly sigh-inducing, we’ll just go ahead and let photographer Jess Barfield’s stunning pix speak for themselves. Visit Barfield’s blog for more beautiful images of this wondrous wedding. And while you’re at it, check out Alex Douglas’s award-winning documentary “The Passage,” on the incredible history and modern-day significance of the Panama Canal, which took Best Cinematographer honors at the Harlem International Film Festival and will have its West Coast premiere on Jan. 30th at Opening Night of the huge Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where it is nominated for the Social Justice award (and where this year’s speakers include Oprah Winfrey, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, to name a few).

And don’t forget to visit Sculpting With Time at the Sunday, Jan. 26 I Do! Bridal Soiree at the Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston to congratulate the newlyweds in person…and tap into their extraordinary filmmaking talents to document your own unforgettable day!

Dreamy Vintage Texas Garden Wedding

Talk about a fairytale proposal: “A month before I graduated from Texas A&M, my parents planned a family trip to Disney World. Nolan and I were walking through the Magic Kingdom when he said, ‘I know it’s probably way too late to make dinner reservations in Cinderella’s castle, but I’m going to ask anyways.’ When he came back, he said, ‘There was a cancellation, so I took it!’ When we walked inside the castle, Cinderella greeted us and we took a picture with her. Then, we were escorted to our table. I was so caught up in taking photos of everything inside that I did not notice how weird Nolan was acting. I was starting to get a little concerned when our dessert was delayed, and then it all happened. A waiter brought out a silver platter, sat it down in front of me, and underneath was a glass slipper with my beautiful ring on it! Nolan walked over to my chair, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. All of the Disney princesses came out and congratulated us, and a photographer snapped photos. It really was magical,” says bride Cady. Magical, too, was the couple’s vintage-inspired wedding, filled with personal mementos, antiques and DIY touches. “We laid out a dance floor under the stars, had a live band playing Frank Sinatra songs, and we sent off floating lanterns at the end of the night (ever since I saw the movie ‘Tangled’, I have been so fascinated with those things). We left the reception in an awesome, light blue Cadillac from the fifties. It was a loud ride to Houston, but it was a lot of fun!” Congratulations, Cady and Nolan, and thanks to NYC-based photographer Tahni Candelaria-Holm of Joyeuse Photography for the lovely pix of this charming Texas wedding.

Vintage-Elegant Houston Wedding by Motley Melange Photography

There’s just something so darn sweet (and LOL funny) about this journalistic, third-party courtship story we received on behalf of Houston couple Amy and Jimmy: “After seeing a picture of Amy through a friend’s Facebook, Jimmy was determined to meet her and asked a friend of his to introduce him to her. The introduction was made, but the first date was not made until six months later. Jimmy and Amy had dinner and bonded while watching the first ‘Paranormal Activity’ movie. Since then, they have watched every ‘Paranormal Activity’ movie except for the fourth one, due to Jimmy being out of the country during their anniversary.” See what we mean?? Think that’s cute, just check out their understated, vintage-elegant Houston wedding, with its white, gold, gray and pink palette, and Amy’s gorgeous, keyhole-back Monique Lhuillier gown. Cheers to the newlyweds, and big thanks to Motley Melange Photography for the lovely photos.

Intimate Petroleum Club Wedding by Steve Lee Weddings

While “iPhone meets Frank Sinatra” might not seem like your typical wedding theme, Amy and Robbie’s Houston nuptial celebration was anything but your typical wedding. The couple, who met at work and got engaged in the moments after the groom disembarked from a plane after traveling 30-plus hours, wanted their spring wedding to have “modern, clean lines” and a “jazzy, cool feel,” Amy says. Hinging on a palette of deep purple, silver, white and black, they infused the vintage-elegant Petroleum Club of Houston with a sleek, clubby feel—the perfect environment in which to enjoy excellent food and dancing with an intimate group of fewer than 90 close friends and family members. And the bride’s Martina Liana gown (accented with the silver ribbon sash) and purple-calla bouquet? Perfection. Cheers to the exceptionally talented Steve Lee for the fabulous photos of this retro-meets-right-now wedding.

Las Vegas Wedding with Cocktails, Dancing and…Bowling!

“We were in Las Vegas celebrating my 25th birthday with my family, and what I thought was going to be a regular day turned out completely different. Every time we had been to Las Vegas we always said we wanted to go to the top of the Stratosphere hotel, but it never happened, so this time we were determined to make it happen. I was pumped because I thought it would be hilarious to see him on top of the Stratosphere (he is terrified of heights), plus they have rides on top! When we started to go up the elevator he looked so nervous I started to feel bad, but he was persistent on going all the way to the top. When we got up there we were able to see all of the Las Vegas strip and the beautiful desert. As we were leaning over the edge he starts talking about the future and then mentions something about a hot air balloon, which grabs my attention, and all of a sudden I turn around and he is on one knee with a box in hand.” With a proposal story like that, it’s no wonder Houston couple Candice and Joshua chose to return to the scene of their engagement to make it official. Their Las Vegas celebration at the Palms Casino Resort’s Kingpin Suite is the very picture of vintage Vegas glamour and fun, and we’re so thrilled to have a chance to share it with y’all. Big thanks to Houston’s Adam Nyholt for the fabulous pix of this destination celebration. And congrats to the newlyweds!
