Las Vegas Wedding with Cocktails, Dancing and…Bowling!

“We were in Las Vegas celebrating my 25th birthday with my family, and what I thought was going to be a regular day turned out completely different. Every time we had been to Las Vegas we always said we wanted to go to the top of the Stratosphere hotel, but it never happened, so this time we were determined to make it happen. I was pumped because I thought it would be hilarious to see him on top of the Stratosphere (he is terrified of heights), plus they have rides on top! When we started to go up the elevator he looked so nervous I started to feel bad, but he was persistent on going all the way to the top. When we got up there we were able to see all of the Las Vegas strip and the beautiful desert. As we were leaning over the edge he starts talking about the future and then mentions something about a hot air balloon, which grabs my attention, and all of a sudden I turn around and he is on one knee with a box in hand.” With a proposal story like that, it’s no wonder Houston couple Candice and Joshua chose to return to the scene of their engagement to make it official. Their Las Vegas celebration at the Palms Casino Resort’s Kingpin Suite is the very picture of vintage Vegas glamour and fun, and we’re so thrilled to have a chance to share it with y’all. Big thanks to Houston’s Adam Nyholt for the fabulous pix of this destination celebration. And congrats to the newlyweds!

Vintage French Garden Wedding in Houston Hotel Ballroom

As business owners—she owns a dance and photo studio, he develops high-tech hearing implants—Laney and Brian “found it near impossible to meet like-minded people at bars or clubs,” the recent Houston bride tells us. Enter eHarmony, and another online-true-love story. “I was the first and only match he met,” Laney says—and the only match either of them needed. In July the pair wed in front of 185 guests with the help of close friends and family members who oversaw the intimate ceremony. Next came a lively and lovely reception with plenty of dancing, natch (including a performance by her dance academy’s advanced dancers) in a ballroom done up in shades of metallic, pink and jade. Theirs was an “upscale, vintage, French-garden wedding with dusty pink peonies and fern-green centerpieces cascading down onto the tables, and gold and silver pieces everywhere, using tons of candles, mercury glass and gilded accents.” Enjoy these pretty pix from photographer Tambi Howard and join us in wishing Laney and Brian a lifetime of happiness. Congrats!

Crystal Ballroom Summer Wedding with Vintage Touches

When you’re a school kid, a prank phone call often leads to getting busted. Almost never does it lead to getting…married—Christina and Kevin being the exception. “I went to an all-girls high school and Kevin went to an all-boys high school. My friends and I called Kevin during a sleepover and forgot to dial *67. Kevin texted my phone back the next day and we started texting back and forth, eventually met, and the rest it history!” And what a cute history it is. Knowing Christina’s passion for the Houston Astros, Kevin used the ruse of a Minute Maid Park tour to propose to his future Mrs., while his family hid out in the dugout taking pix of the whole shebang. The pair wed in a traditional Catholic Mass followed by a reception for 230 of their nearest and dearest at the historic Crystal Ballroom at The Rice, done up in seasonal shades of peach, light orange and yellow. Traditional wedding rituals abounded, including a formal reception line, a marriage dance, a money dance, and bouquet and garter tosses. We’re grateful to Christina and Kevin for sharing their classic and perfectly personalized Houston wedding with us. Thanks, too, to George Street Photography for the fine wedding photos!

Lovely Butler’s Courtyard Wedding with Overseas Proposal Story

“Kevin asked me to marry him in Norway, where I was born,” Houston bride Kristine tells us. “He was visiting me while I was doing an internship abroad. He already had a ring, had already asked my dad for my hand in marriage, and was just waiting for the right time to ask. The last day, which we spent at my family cottage, was the most gorgeous day. The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect. We went for a long walk to a lighthouse located on the shore of the North Sea. As soon as we arrived, Kevin couldn’t wait, and got down on one knee.” Wondering what Kristine’s answer was? Yeah, you guessed it. The pair made it official this summer, in front of 125 beloved friends and family members, with a beautiful ceremony and fun, rustic-elegant reception at Butler’s Courtyard. “I wanted my wedding to be very laid-back and relaxed, which I achieved with having it mostly outdoors. The interior features of the venue were very rustic, with exposed brick, wooden beams, chandeliers and vintage candelabras, which achieved the look I wanted on their own. Outdoors we had light linens, mercury-glass vases, blush bridesmaid dresses, baby’s breath, string-bulb lights and an amazing piano man who played and sang all the classics…which made my wedding a dream come true!” Thank you so much, Kristine and Kevin, for sharing your dream day with all of us. Thanks, too, to Mustard Seed Photography, for some very lovely documentation of this beautiful Houston wedding.

Fun, Relaxed, Dance-Fueled Houston Wedding by DC Stanley Photography

“After we got engaged, Eric told me that the only thing he wanted in our wedding was to have the Spazmatics play during the reception,” recounts bride Melissa. “I had no idea that band would shape our entire wedding.” That wedding started with a ceremony at the Houston Arboretum—“I love the idea of bringing our kids back to the exact spot we got married to have a picnic,” the bride says. Next, guests headed to Houston’s House of Blues for a fun, upbeat, joy-filled party featuring Southern comfort food, red velvet cake and tons of dancing. DC Stanley Photography’s photos of this event are nothing short of fantastic, but Melissa says the photographer’s talents go beyond just pointing and shooting. “David and his wife are an amazing team. I hate posed pictures and he does an amazing job of catching the moment without being intrusive. His work looks more like art then wedding photography. He was also extremely helpful when needed. My bustle kept falling out and he helped my bridesmaid fix it. He has been to a lot of weddings and has tons of knowledge. I am sure he could be a wedding planner if he wanted to.” Aww… how sweet is that? However, we do hope the Stanley duo keep taking gorgeous wedding photos, so we can keep showing them to you, our beloved Houston brides! Congratulations, Melissa and Eric, and thank you for sharing your very special day.
