You should trust your dad when he tells you he has the perfect guy in mind. Just ask Houston bride, Talia, whose dad set her up with Barry. “He took me to an Ethiopian restaurant, brought me flowers, opened doors… a total gentleman,” says Talia. Unfortunately she wasn’t ready to date him just yet. “Years later I couldn’t stop thinking about him. We reached out to each other on a few occasions, but were never able to meet. Finally, we were able to get together for a cup of coffee, and the rest was history,” adds Talia.

Ten years after their first date, Barry took Talia to the same Ethiopian restaurant where they first met. “After dinner he convinced me to go to the museum to check out a friend’s art show,” recounts Talia. He arranged for a friend to take photos at the Light Tunnel in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. “Once we arrived at the Light Tunnel, I realized no one else was there, and he was on one knee!” adds Talia.

Their wedding was exactly how they pictured it—unique, hints of art deco, and simply elegant. “Balushka, owner of Balushka Paper Floral Artistry, and I always talked about how she would decorate my wedding one day, and when the time came, she did a phenomenal job. She came up with the most gorgeous panels of handmade paper flowers in shades of blush, plum, ivory and gold for our backdrop,” says Talia.

A last-minute email and some amazing luck ultimately brought Gabrielle and John together forever. Gabrielle had been using Match.com for nearly two years. John had been active for only two weeks. Gabrielle was “over it,” but John was certainly not over her. After ignoring his emails, Gabrielle decided to go out on a limb and respond to John before canceling her subscription to the dating app, and she sure was glad she did! The couple was inseparable from that first date on. “He literally was my last date off Match. Little did I know it would be my last date period,” Gabrielle says.

Fast forward: Gabrielle and John celebrated their perfect wedding day at the stunning Houston wedding venue Chateau Cocomar, which perfectly captured Gabrielle’s theme of “elegance and glitz with a sprinkle of over-the-top.” But, in typical Houston fashion, the skies opened up and drenched their dream venue. For an instant the couple’s luck had seemed to fade…

But don’t worry, this story has a happy ending! The team at J’Adore Events was able to save the day and seamlessly pull off the wedding of Gabrielle and John’s dreams, with a regal navy, ivory and gold wedding color palette, a five-tier wedding cake, and treats featuring the couple’s favorite snack—popcorn from The Popcorn Bar! “I wanted a wedding that pampered my guests and had them wanting for nothing,” Gabrielle says. Jason met his sports-loving gal, Lauren, right out of college in 2009 when they both were working for the San Antonio Spurs. “We are both from Houston, and grew up as HUGE Rockets fans, so neither of us thought we’d ever work for the Spurs,” says Lauren. “Luckily we did and it brought us to each other,” adds Lauren. The pair hit it off immediately, and you can guess what happens next. Jason got down on one knee during their trip to Paris on the Pont des Arts bridge (aww). It wasn’t long before they started planning their romantic wedding at the Crystal Ballroom at The Rice. “We couldn’t ask for a better day,” recounts Lauren. “This is something that we say to each other often, so we thought it would be fun to include this saying in our wedding theme and details. It was used on the wedding program, napkins and koozies!” Sounds so sweet, right? One summer Haley decided to sign up for the annual Beta Fraternity River Trip with some girlfriends. The girls were ready for some New Braunfels relaxation and arrived to get on the bus. However, as it always seems with boys’ “careful” planning, there were not enough seats for everyone. Cue Daniel. In true southern gentleman-like fashion, he offered his seat to Haley. He may or may not have had some motive behind this gesture, but it sure paid off. Haley admits she was pretty impressed and started up a conversation with Daniel…a conversation that would continue for the rest of their lives. The two quickly established a favorite date-night spot, George’s Pastaria here in Houston…but little did Haley know that the spot would become even more special on February 15^th, 2014. The two were talking and laughing all the way until closing time. Realizing that they were the only two left in the entire restaurant, Haley told Daniel they really should go…but he insisted they stay. Surrounded by nothing but the slowly burning table candles, Daniel got down on one knee. Unable to hold back the happiest of tears, Haley said, “YES!” Now we may or may not be shedding some happy tears, too (we totally are). Haley and Daniel were beyond excited to send out their classic cream and gold invites from Bering’s to all of their friends and loved ones to celebrate this incredible day! The wedding was just a vision—the couple’s chosen colors of Wedgewood blue and shimmering gold were the perfect statement. For Anna, it was just an ordinary lunch date with the girls…until Stephen noticed her from across the room. “Stephen asked the waitress to ask me if he could join us for lunch or say, ‘Hi.’ I was curious,” recalls Anna. Fortunately, her curiosity paid off…with lots and lots of love. Eight months after a sweet beach proposal in Grand Cayman, the pair tied the knot at Chateau Cocomar in front of 110 of their nearest and dearest. Plants N’ Petals created a romantic setting by filling the room with tall candelabras and lush floral arrangements, complemented by a 4-foot-tall lace-and-pearl cake by Who Made The Cake. Anna’s off-shoulder bridal gown from Weddings by Debbie was pure princess material–and she rocked it! Congrats and best wishes, Anna and Stephen. We wish you a lifetime of happiness!
