Mint and Coral DIY Wedding by Lindsay Elizabeth Photography

“We call our wedding our ‘fairytale wedding,’ because it truly was,” says bride Gina. “From the flowers, to the photographer, to the makeup, to our attire, to the music, to our guests…everything was just perfect.” Taking a DIY approach to their low-key, vintage-country celebration, Gina and Ryan planned their wedding together, treating friends and family to an intimate gathering where Texan touches abounded, and fun was the focus. As Gina explains, “We tried not to spend on things that we didn’t find special to us, and we invested in things that we found truly important. I got the dress I always dreamed of [a beautiful drop-waist, tiered Tara Keely from Weddings by Debbie], and Ryan loved his Vera Wang suit. We had our ceremony at a very small, intimate Methodist church with stained-glass windows and wooden pews. We used baby’s breath on the pews and for the bouquets and boutonnieres to create our vintage look. We took our pictures with our AMAZING photographer, Lindsay Elizabeth Strode of Lindsay Elizabeth Photography, outside of the church in a field that gave us such a fun, vintage country look…just what we were hoping to find. We then had our reception at local BBQ restaurant and dance hall, with hanging white lights from the celling, wood floors and bar, Texas country decor across the walls, and a big stage for the DJ to set up. We decorated with burlap and lace tablecloths, handmade mason jar centerpieces, and a green-theme candy bar, and we gave out personalized koozies. We danced the night away in our cowboy boots to our favorite music and favorite friends and family. We wouldn’t trade our wedding day for the world!”

Rustic-Elegant Same-Sex Wedding by Binford Creative Photography

Rob and Nathan originally met through a dating app, but their love story didn’t start until one day at the Greek festival. It was a typical rainy day in Houston, but they didn’t let the wet weather ruin their fun. “We talked for hours, nibbled on some tasty food, and the rest was history,” recounts Rob. He knew in his heart this was it. “I planned an elaborate plan to surprise Nathan with a trip to San Francisco for his 30th birthday. We spent the next few days taking wine tours and soaking in the beauty of the California coast with our closest friends, who had joined us.” On the way back to the city, the couple pulled over to take a photo of the Golden Gate Bridge. “I pulled Nathan aside to express how sorry I was that I never bought him anything for his birthday, and asked him to give me more time,” says Rob. Little did he Nathan what was coming next! Rob pulled out the ring, got down on one knee and asked Nathan to marry him. The pair celebrated their wedding with their closest family and friends at a beautiful Hill Country ranch, where rough-hewn benches and white rose petals set the tone for the outdoor wedding ceremony, and accents of succulents and fresh greenery filled the reception room, illuminated by soft candlelight. Sigh. Just take a look at the stunning photos from their intimate wedding celebration by Binford Creative Photography—you’ll be swooning just like us. Congrats to the newlyweds, we wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Peach, Green & Gray Rustic Wedding

Amy and Elliot met at a July 4th barbecue, instantly hit it off and the rest was history. The pair traveled to a private beach in Mexico to celebrate their one-year anniversary. Little did she know that he had planned the sweetest proposal on the last day of their romantic getaway. Needless to say, Amy said “yes”, and started planning their Spring wedding. Amy and Elliot envisioned an upscale-rustic wedding with personal touches. Lanterns, beautiful flowers by Blooms Design Studio, tea lights, and a seating chart (built by Amy’s brother and bridesmaid) were just a few of the simple details that brought their vision of an elegant, yet rustic wedding come to life. Check out all of the sweet deets from their wedding below. Congrats and well wishes to the newlyweds!

Rachel & Estevan ~ March 29, 2014

“Estevan and I met in February of 2013 at our mutual friends’ game night where we were the only two single people,” recounts bride Rachel.  “They swear it was a coincidence.” Were pretty sure it wasn’t. For their spring wedding, the couple selected a fresh, seasonal palette of in and soft pinks,k and filled their rustic-elegant venue with touches of burlap, mercury glass and vintage furniture including rough-hewn farm tables, refurbished doors and wine barrels. Describing her favorite wedding moments, Rachel recounts sipping margaritas made with her father-in-law’s secret recipe and partying to a lively mix of country, pop and Tejano music. But most of all, she cherishes the memory of her father-daughter dance to The Temptations’ “My Girl.” “My dad sang this song to me while he taught me to swim in our backyard. It is my first memory, and a precious reminder of our relationship.”

Rustic Shabby Chic Wedding at Old Glory Ranch

WEDDINGS IN HOUSTON FALL 2014 | REAL WEDDING FEATURE

Sarah and Logan ~ October 5, 2013

Middle-school classmates who attended separate high schools then reconnected in college, Sarah and Logan have a long Houston history and a lot of family and friends between them. Their choice of Wimberley’s Old Glory Ranch as the venue for their festive fall wedding gave them the opportunity to celebrate with 300 of their nearest and dearest in a setting of privacy and natural splendor. “The theme for our wedding was ‘shabby chic’ and rustic,” explains Sarah. “Everything was perfect”—from the “beautiful flowers” to the “delicious food” to the “mismatched vintage china.” Best of all, she adds, was having those she loved most make their way to the Hill Country for an unforgettable destination wedding conveniently close to home.
