As director of private events and catering for Northgate Country Club, bride Morgan has seen hundreds of weddings, in every theme, style and color palette. So when it came time for her own wedding to handsome Nathan, whom she’d first met through Greek life in college, she knew she wanted “something modern and fun but still romantic and breathtaking…something that isn’t seen on Pinterest too often.” Click here to read the rest of this post »
Fellow college athletes Emily and Derrick found their paths crossing often, as soccer players for San Antonio’s Trinity University. The sporty pair started dating at the beginning of their sophomore year…and five years later, Derrick proposed, on a hike during Emily’s annual summer family trip to Telluride, Colo. But the proposal wasn’t all sunshine and roses. In fact, the familiar trail the crew usually took to Hope Lake (Emily’s favorite hike) was still partially covered by snow and ice, much to their dismay. The future groom, however, would not be deterred, and managed to get the group to “stomp through knee-high snow, until we eventually straggled one-by-one to the peak of the hike,” Emily says. It was there that Derrick was able to lead Emily away from their group (who, of course, were all in on the secret, and had been recruited to help pull off the surprise proposal), and ask her the question he had been waiting to ask. The triumphant team “slid down in a hurry to get to dinner in town, at a beautiful restaurant between Telluride and Mountain Village, with windows looking out on the mountains,” Emily recounts. “It truly could not have been more perfect.” We feel pretty much the same way about the now-Austin-based couple’s wedding, held at downtown Houston’s iconic neoclassical venue, the Corinthian Houston. With its palette of white, gold and dark green, brought to life in flowers and decor by Plants N’ Petals, its gorgeous seven-layer white-and-gold cake (and equally awesome groom’s cake, depicting a 3D soccer ball and a 3D version of the couple’s German shepherd “digging” into the cake) from Cakes By Gina, the couple’s downtown Houston wedding is classic in every way. It’s also an absolute blast, as shown, beautifully, in Emily and Derrick’s moving, magical, utterly romantic wedding video from top Houston wedding videography team, husband and wife Mia & Taffy. But don’t take our word for it–sit back, grab a couple of tissues, and enjoy the movie. And while you’re at it, discover more wedding video awesomeness from Mia & Taffy, one of Houston’s finest filmmaking teams, and a top choice of Weddings in Houston couples!
