Elegant And Intimate Daytime Wedding At Hotel Galvez & Spa
Church brought Lauren, an introvert, and Paul, an extrovert, together. A romantic proposal while hiking up Enchanted Rock, during which the bride jokes they were “Sharing puns about getting an ‘enchanted rock’ on Enchanted Rock,” sealed their relationship. “I knew from the moment Paul gave me that side hug over two years ago that we were meant for each other. I am so grateful to call him mine for the rest of our lives!” As Lauren and Paul set out to plan their wedding, the couple faced an unexpected obstacle on the road to their wedding day: the Coronavirus pandemic. After having to cancel their original church and reception venue, all hope seemed lost until Paul called his step-grandfather, who had built a church in Galveston over 40 years ago. ”He graciously opened the doors of his church for us and also officiated our wedding,” says Lauren. From there a new celebration was planned and after a whirlwind three weeks of re-planning, the couple’s dream Houston wedding became a Galveston wedding reality.
At last, Lauren and Paul pledged their love amidst 70 guests. “Even with six feet spacing between them, our guests felt near to our hearts,” says the bride. The intimate celebration continued at Hotel Galvez & Spa’s Music Hall for a sunny afternoon reception. The decor was soft and elegant, with a delicate palette of sage, pink, peach and cream. Notes the bride: “The bright tropical landscape with the classic vintage architecture was a gorgeous backdrop for a day that Paul and I will never forget.” After heartfelt speeches and dining on filet mignon with roasted asparagus, the newlyweds made their grand exit along the Seawall at sunset. “Although our wedding ended up being nothing like our original plan, it was a beautiful, joyful day.”
We’re so happy that everything worked out for newlyweds Lauren and Paul and delighted to share their elegant and intimate daytime wedding at Hotel Galvez & Spa. Congratulations, Lauren & Paul!
Mauve, Blush And Creams Fall Wedding By Amy Maddox Photography
“Weston proposed in Brooklyn overlooking the water with the NYC skyline in the background,” remembers bride Liles. “It was absolutely breathtaking.” After finding inspiration within the pages of Weddings in Houston magazine, Liles planned a wedding that was both a “fun and memorable” affair with a “romantic” theme. “Our venue was beautiful without any decor, but I knew I wanted to dress it up in a big way for our day,” says the bride, who describes a ballroom filled with greenery and colorful florals in a stunning palette of mauve, blush, and creams.
The celebration included personal touches such as a live painter, custom cocktail napkins to include their pets, with cute sayings: “Raise the woof,” “Guard your drink,” “Purr me another,” and “Hightail it to the dance floor” and Weston playing “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John with the band on stage. The bride adds, “We also incorporated some very non-traditional aspects—I had a Bridesman, and Weston had a Best Woman.” Photographer Amy Maddox expertly captured the celebration through her light and airy photography style. “Everyone has asked us what our favorite part about our wedding was, but truly the whole day was just the best day ever. All of it coming together the way I’d very thoughtfully planned was so awesome!”

Shabby-Chic Blush, Gold & Cream Wedding by Kelly Hornberger
They say if you have to invite your best friend to your wedding, you’re marrying the wrong person. We know that Houston bride Caroline agrees! “Austin and I were best friends for two years before we started dating in 8th grade. We’ve always loved each other, but were hesitant of it potentially ruining our friendship. We took a leap of faith and decided to follow our hearts.”
When it came time to propose, Austin knew the perfect way to catch her completely off guard. It was his birthday, and Caroline wanted to surprise him with a birthday dinner… little did she know that she was the one in for a treat! As soon as they arrived to the restaurant, Caroline and Austin were led to the back, where she thought all of their family and friends would be—no one was there, and the room was filled with decorations and pictures of them. “I was so shocked, but thought it was all planned for him and I just hadn’t gotten get the memo,” adds Caroline. He showed her a sweet video he made for her, got down on one knee and asked Caroline to spend forever with him.
Caroline wore a stunning strapless lace bridal gown from Weddings by Debbie paired with blue Badgley Mischka peep-toe pumps.
Their vision of a rustic Texas wedding came together with shabby-chic decor and romantic accents.
Her favorite moments? “Reading our personal vows to each other from behind either sides of a door holding hands, and dancing with my dad and my mom,” says Caroline. Thanks, Kelly Hornberger Photography, for the beautiful photos!

Blush, Cream & Marsala Rustic Fall Wedding
Taylor noticed Cody at a get-together in College Station and decided to approach him with a witty one-liner. “I asked him if he lived in Cypress, and he said, ‘Yes,’” says Taylor. Inspired by her favorite actor, Will Ferrell, she replied, “Did we just become best friends?!” Her sense of humor worked on Cody, and they have been inseparable since!
Cody knew the perfect moment to propose to Taylor was on a family vacay for the Fourth of July. They went to the Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio to watch the fireworks show. The scenery was perfect, “We all sat on a big blanket while eating s’mores. After a couple minutes after the show started, Cody asked me to stand up,” says Taylor. Her initial response was, “No! Are you crazy? I’m watching the fireworks!” But his persistence paid off and before Taylor knew it, he was on one knee asking her to spend the rest of their lives together. Aww!
After a sweet summer proposal came their romantic fall wedding. She wore a full-sleeved Hayley Paige gown from Now & Forever Bridal Boutique, and held a gorgeous marsala, blush and ivory bridal bouquet by Blooms Design Studio while she said her “I do’s.”
“Everything was magical. The whole place was filled with candlelight and lanterns. I wanted to mix one bold color with a neutral palette, so marsala was the perfect pop of color to complete my fall wedding vision,” says Taylor.
Her favorite moment was kissing Cody under the fireworks. “It was such a magical night,” says Taylor.
Best wishes and congrats to the newlyweds!

Rustic-Elegant Same-Sex Wedding by Binford Creative Photography
Rob and Nathan originally met through a dating app, but their love story didn’t start until one day at the Greek festival. It was a typical rainy day in Houston, but they didn’t let the wet weather ruin their fun. “We talked for hours, nibbled on some tasty food, and the rest was history,” recounts Rob. He knew in his heart this was it. “I planned an elaborate plan to surprise Nathan with a trip to San Francisco for his 30th birthday. We spent the next few days taking wine tours and soaking in the beauty of the California coast with our closest friends, who had joined us.” On the way back to the city, the couple pulled over to take a photo of the Golden Gate Bridge. “I pulled Nathan aside to express how sorry I was that I never bought him anything for his birthday, and asked him to give me more time,” says Rob. Little did he Nathan what was coming next! Rob pulled out the ring, got down on one knee and asked Nathan to marry him. The pair celebrated their wedding with their closest family and friends at a beautiful Hill Country ranch, where rough-hewn benches and white rose petals set the tone for the outdoor wedding ceremony, and accents of succulents and fresh greenery filled the reception room, illuminated by soft candlelight. Sigh. Just take a look at the stunning photos from their intimate wedding celebration by Binford Creative Photography—you’ll be swooning just like us. Cream, Blush & Fuchsia Wedding by Steve Lee Photography at Brennan’s Houston
Rochelle caught Danny’s eye while he was walking to the food court in the Galleria. “After walking past Rochelle, the first thing I noticed were her eyes and how stunning she is,” says Danny. “After speaking to her I realized that she is beautiful not only on the outside, but inside as well. I knew one day, no matter what, she was going to be my wife.” It wasn’t long before the pair started planning their Houston wedding—with a New Orleans touch, to pay homage to their Louisiana roots. They had the best of both worlds, thanks to Brennan’s Houston. The guests enjoyed a four-course menu, including traditional gumbo and Creole potatoes (mmm…), followed by praline favors at the end of the night. Danny’s favorite moment? “Watching my wife walk down the aisle,” he says. We couldn’t be happier for these two. Check out their lovely photos from Steve Lee Photography below. Congrats Rochelle and Danny!
