Katherine and Mac’s love story is a testament to perfect timing. Despite attending the same business school and living across the street from each other, they didn’t officially meet until their senior year. Their connection was immediate and profound, hinting at something special.

In March 2021, Mac invited Katherine to a relaxing weekend at her parent’s beach home in Galveston, a place that holds a special piece of Katherine’s heart. During a beach stroll, Mac surprised Katherine with a heartfelt proposal. The couple’s families then surprised them with a celebration filled with laughter, champagne, and shared memories. Katherine says, “Galveston has been such a special place to me ever since I was little and is filled with some of my favorite memories. I am so thankful to have this special memory where the love of my life asked me to marry him added to that list to look back on forever.”

Their wedding, held on February 19, 2022, was a beautiful blend of tradition and personal touches. The ceremony occurred in the same church where Katherine’s parents and grandparents exchanged their vows. Katherine honored her family lineage by wearing her mother’s veil and grandmother’s handkerchief and perfume.

Following the church ceremony, Katherine and Mac celebrated with a lively wedding reception at The Ballroom at Bayou Place. The couple honored the bride’s Greek heritage with traditional Greek dancing, an abundance of Greek food, and a dedicated coffee and tea bar serving Greek pastries. The celebration was a true embodiment of a “Big Fat Greek Wedding,” a term that has become synonymous with grand and joyous Greek wedding celebrations.

The wedding cake, a decadent 5-tier gold and white creation by Cakes by Gina, was personalized with the couple’s initials. A fun groom’s cake replicating a Yeti cooler added a lighthearted touch to the celebration.

Katherine says, “I also definitely did not expect to end the night crowd surfing with our best friends. We feel very blessed and thankful to have each other and everyone that helped us celebrate!”
