Lovely Texas Summer Seaside Wedding at Hotel Galvez

OK, major proposal cuteness: “Matt made me breakfast in bed to celebrate my job promotion. As we were toasting with Champagne, he picked up our puppy and placed him in my lap. When I looked down my ring was on the puppy’s bandana. I said, ‘Yes,’ cried and then we called everyone we knew to tell them we were moving to Dallas for my new job AND we were getting married!” Allison and her California cutie tied the knot at the Hotel Galvez in front of 100 beloved guests. A vibrant, summery wedding color palette of pink, orange and green played perfectly off the historic Galveston hotel’s backdrop of breezy whites and neutrals, and set the stage for a lively and lovely beach wedding. Our thanks to MiaBella Photography for sharing photos, and to Allison and Matthew for sharing their very special day.

Vintage Elegant Hotel Galvez Wedding by Joshua Tyi Photography

There’s something so darn timeless and captivating about Shaw and Kael’s morning wedding at Galveston’s historic Hotel Galvez. Everything from the wash of coastal light to the vintage-inspired palette of warm golden brown and bright poppy red to the charmingly attired couple themselves is picture-perfect. Here’s something else that was perfect: the groom’s acknowledgement of the the day’s precious moments. “One thing I really appreciated was that throughout the day Kael would stop me and say, ‘Let’s remember this moment,’ which was a nice way to slow down and not forget anything important amidst a busy, emotional day,” explains Shaw. Grooms: Take note! Everyone else, take a moment to savor this delightful Galveston wedding, with fabulous photos courtesy of Houston-based Joshua Tyi Photography.

Southern Vintage Hotel Galvez Wedding by Jonathan Ivy Photography

You say you’re longing for a destination wedding—without the hassle of long-distance travel? Take a cue from Stephanie and Travis, who got the best of destination-wedding delights—sea breezes, spectacular sunset, a grand beachfront hotel—at a destination very close to home: Hotel Galvez & Spa, A Wyndham Grand Hotel. “Travis and I wanted a fun atmosphere where everyone could relax and party,” Stephanie says. “His side of the family is from the North and had not been to Texas yet. We searched for many months until we fell in love with Hotel Galvez. It had character and a destination feel.” Taking inspiration from the historic Galveston hotel’s iconic charms, the couple went for “a Southern vintage theme with dusty rose, teal and vintage yellow as our color palette,” the bride notes. And they incorporated their two enduring loves (well, besides each other)—family, and Texas-country music—throughout the celebration, with beloved photos, heirloom accessories, Stephanie’s grandfather’s ’57 Chevy, and a performance by rising country star Jason Cassidy. A picture-perfect location, an unforgettable day, an adoring couple, beautifully captured by Jonathan Ivy Photography. Does it get any better than that?

Bridesmaids + Vintage = A Match Made in Heaven!

Got a bit of nostalgia for days gone by? One of the best ways to bring a vintage vibe into your wedding is with your bridesmaids. We’re crazy for e-shops ModCloth, Ruche and Posh Girl Vintage, which have zillions of 1940s, 50s, 60s and 70s-inspired frocks. And where would we be without Etsy when we’re shopping for vintage clutches, shoe clips, charm bracelets, fascinators, lockets and boleros for our dear ’maids? For vintage-look footwear, we’re particularly fond of Kate Spade, Seychelles, Miz Mooz and the inimitable Betsey Johnson. Love the idea of a vintage look for your bridesmaids, but don’t know quite where to start? Locally, Bella Bridesmaid’s savvy consultants can suggest all kinds of ways to add vintage verve to your girls’ getups. So get ON that, now, would y’all?
