Sarah and TJ met while working in downtown Houston. With their desks conveniently across from one another, the two would talk for hours. “We became best friends and would get lunch and coffee together every day. That grew into messaging on skype all day at work and barely getting any work done,” says Sarah. “I remember thinking there was no possible way I could ever have enough time with TJ.”
Anna had been dreaming of her wedding day since she was a little girl so when Jack, her college sweetheart, proposed she was looking forward to every aspect of the planning process…but then the global pandemic hit and the wedding had to be postponed. “Instead of worrying about napkin colors and floral arrangements, I was filling hand sanitizer bottles and making sure each table was spaced 6 feet apart,” says the bride. Fortunately, love conquered all, and the wedding day Anna dreamed about came to life at Iron Manor. “We wanted an atmosphere that represented both of our personalities—the industrial yet avant-garde ambiance of the Iron Manor did just that,” notes the bride. “From the venue’s vaulted ceilings and extravagant chandeliers to the breathtaking florals, every detail of our day was truly perfect.”
The couple pledged their love in Iron Manor’s grand Iron Chapel amidst 235 of their loved ones. The reception décor was modern and elegant with a romantic color palette of blush, burgundy and gold. A unique and personal touch was a scroll that flowed off the cake table with hand-scripted lyrics of the song from the couple’s first date and dance. “For Jack and me to say that we were on cloud nine at our wedding would be an understatement — we were truly #OnCloudShine thanks to our amazing vendors, venue and coordinators, and supportive loved ones.”

We like to think of Lara and Nick’s meeting as a bright silver lining on a very dark cloud: The couple first encountered one another in July 2011 in Fort Payne, Ala., where both were volunteers assisting in tornado relief efforts. Their long-distance relationship—he was in North Carolina, she lived in Houston—blossomed, and in 2012, Nick moved to Houston. With its cornflower-and-peach color scheme and steak-and-lobster menu, the pair’s summer wedding was true Houston classic. The gracious bride adds, “It was also Nick’s brother-in-law’s (he was Nick’s best man) birthday, so after his speech we gave him a cheesecake and sang him, ‘Happy Birthday.’ It was pretty cool to see all 150 people join in and celebrate.”

For their once-in-a-lifetime celebration, UT alums Rachel and Kurt chose The Bell Tower on 34th St., and it’s easy to see why. With its gorgeous grounds, vine-covered walls, hidden archways and spectacular interior, the beloved Bell Tower was the perfect place to gather 240 guests for an evening of dining, dancing and pure, exuberant joy. The bride enchanted everyone in her gorgeous Watters gown from fabulous Mia Bridal Couture–which, we might add, photographer Steve Lee Weddings captured magnificently against a series of Bell Tower backgrounds. Notes Rachel: “Kurt and I truly feel that our perfect evening lasted forever as we got to soak up every moment of happiness and fun of the party.” As for us? OK, major proposal cuteness: “Matt made me breakfast in bed to celebrate my job promotion. As we were toasting with Champagne, he picked up our puppy and placed him in my lap. When I looked down my ring was on the puppy’s bandana. I said, ‘Yes,’ cried and then we called everyone we knew to tell them we were moving to Dallas for my new job AND we were getting married!” Allison and her California cutie tied the knot at the Hotel Galvez in front of 100 beloved guests. A vibrant, summery wedding color palette of pink, orange and green played perfectly off the historic Galveston hotel’s backdrop of breezy whites and neutrals, and set the stage for a lively and lovely beach wedding.
