Confessions of a bride-to-be by Erin Muehsler

I can hardly believe it. It is officially wedding week. After months of planning, Pinterest boards, vendor calls, dress fittings, and happy tears, Pierce and I are just days away from saying “I do” at The Tremont House in Galveston. It feels surreal in the best way.

As a bride-to-be and someone who gets to read Houston couples’ love stories every day, I thought I would feel completely prepared. But wedding week has a way of reminding you that the little things matter just as much as the big ones. So here is what I am focusing on to keep my head clear, my heart calm, and my week intentional.

Keep this wedding week prep guide on hand so you can enjoy every moment leading up to “I do.

Beauty and Self-Care

I planned my appointments early, so everything feels polished but not rushed. A glowing, soft spray tan, manicure and pedicure at Milano Nail Spa The Heights, brow tidy, and a simple at-home hair mask are all scheduled. Nothing drastic. Nothing new. Just refining what already feels like me.

My dress and veil are being steamed and transported to Galveston. I am breaking in my shoes around the house — something I highly recommend — and I have my accessories and outfits laid out in labeled pouches so there are no morning-of scavenger hunts.

Packing and the Emergency Kit

I am packing as if I am going on a small trip. Jewelry, perfume, reception shoes, pajamas, and touch-up items are going into a carry-on. My Wedding Day Emergency Kit now includes fashion tape, Advil, blotting papers, bandages, floss, a mini sewing kit and more.

A Moment to Breathe

Most importantly, I am making space to slow down. A quiet coffee. Time with family. A letter to Pierce. These are the moments I will remember. Wedding week is here. I am ready to savor every minute.
