Accompanying Dana on a work trip to Alaska, Zach chose a frigid early December morning under a spectacular display of Northern Lights to kneel in the snow and ask Dana to marry him. "It was so romantic," gushes the bride. "We saw a sky full of stars and then the lights appeared! It was gorgeous!" Since the gorgeous Tacori engagement ring, which Zach had ordered from Zadok Jewelers, would not be ready in time for the trip, he proposed with a beautiful Swarovski "prop" ring - which is still a favorite of the bride. Back in Houston, the couple hosted a welcome gathering featuring traditional Texas barbecue at The Manor House at The Houstonian. The Catholic church ceremony and gala reception the next evening in The Houstonian’s Forest Ballroom, was artfully captured in stunning photos by Ama by Aisha. A pretty four-tier floral wedding cake and a chocolate groom's cake topped with the Northwestern University logo (Zach's alma mater), designed by Susie's Cakes & Confections, and late-night bites of mini chicken and waffles-on-a-stick, kept the crowd fueled for dancing to music by LG Event Entertainment & Production. A favorite moment for the couple was "our first look at the reception. We sneaked into the Forest Ballroom before the guests so we could see the decor!" The couple had a private last dance after the guests departed, and stole a few romantic moments in the meadow under the venue's sparkling light-strung live oak.
