ABOUT BARN WEDDING VENUES 

You can lasso the usual rules and send ‘em packing when you decide on a barn or farm wedding, with their inherently relaxed feel. These light, bright, outdoor venues are the kind of place you can wear your suit with sneakers. The actual ceremony can be as formal or casual as you wish. It can be held outdoors or in the barn due to inclement weather. It can be quite traditional, with some venues having a minister on staff, or totally self-styled and cowboy-themed, for example.

These make great weekend destination weddings, close to home or simply a place to spend a memorable day. Most are about one to two hours from Houston. Some have cottages where couples can stay the night, and some even offer guest lodging, or guests can stay in the nearest town.

Some barns tend to be rustic wood on outside, glam on the inside, with high ceilings and gorgeous chandeliers. In general, they have been meticulously restored to honor their roots in Texas history, while offering the exclusive luxuries of modern life. Some venues provide their own farm-to-table catering services, while others will allow you to bring in your own caterer if you choose.
