Whether they’re connected in an open-floor-plan layout, or separate from one another, the living room and dining room generally constitute the heart of your home—the place where you relax, unwind, receive guests, entertain, eat, drink and celebrate. How you design, furnish and choose your wedding registry gifts for your home’s living and dining spaces will depend on your taste and style preferences: Do you want to sink back and put your feet up without worrying about delicate doo-dads? Do you love the look of a formal dinner table, laid out with perfect place settings and flickering tapers all aglow? Do you crave a cool lounge space where people can flow from table to sofa to bar, nibbling and sipping while the hum of conversation never stops? Think about the atmosphere you want to create, then dress it up with these living and dining room wedding registry gift essentials, which make down-time a good time, no matter your personal style!
Planning a wedding is hard enough…but planning a wedding in the middle of a global pandemic is even harder! College sweethearts Elly and Trevor faced countless challenges while trying to navigate their intimate summer wedding in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Should they postpone? Should they cancel? Or should they stick to their original date? Luckily love prevailed and they managed to pull off the celebration of a lifetime at The Astorian. “COVID-19 was definitely the biggest obstacle for us,” says the bride. “We had planned, postponed, then decided on June 19th that we were going to get married on our original date (June 27th), no matter what the day looked like. Everything seemed to fall into place after we made the decision to move forward and called our vendors. It ended up being the most gorgeous day I could have ever imagined. It was the ideal intimate wedding experience.” A gorgeous day indeed, and we are so thankful towards Houston wedding photographer Ama By Aisha for beautifully capturing their special day!
Following their church ceremony, the couple joined 50 of their nearest and dearest at The Astorian for an intimate wedding reception. The reception decor was romantic and elegant, featuring a beautiful summer color palette of white, blush and green with champagne and dusty blue accents. Menu highlights from Cordúa Catering included Golf crab cakes, smoked lamb lollichops, and truffled grilled cheese. The meal’s sweet finish featured a five-tier white wedding cake accented with blue Italian tile print and a yeti groom’s cake, both from Cakes By Gina. The memorable night ended with the couple exiting under a shower of golden sparklers before making their getaway in a vintage 1955 Rolls Royce. The bride’s favorite moment? “Getting ready with my girls in The Astorian bridal suite was perfect,” says the bride. “We blasted our music and drank mimosas while getting our hair and makeup done!” We’re so happy that everything worked out for newlyweds Elly and Trevor and excited to share their romantic and intimate summer wedding with y’all. Congratulations, Elly & Trevor!
