Weddings in Houston: What wedding stationery pieces are couples often forgetting about beyond the invitation?

Bering’s: Couples often focus on their invitation suite but forget about other important stationery pieces, such as thank-you notes, which can be personalized with the couple’s first names or a two-initial monogram. It is more common to include both partners’ names rather than just the bride’s name. Other items are the rehearsal dinner and welcome party invitations. Many couples are now including details for rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, and other wedding weekend events alongside their wedding invitations, but these pieces are often overlooked during the planning process.

WiH: How far in advance should couples start the designing process for their wedding invitations and stationery?

Bering’s: We recommend starting the Save the Date process about nine months before the wedding, or even earlier for destination weddings.  For wedding invitations, it’s best to begin the design process five to six months before the wedding date. Once an order is placed, invitations typically require four to six weeks for production and printing, though turnaround times can vary depending on the printing methods and customization involved.

WiH: What are some ways couples can make their wedding stationery feel more personal and unique to their story?

Bering’s: Couples have many options for adding personal touches to their wedding stationery. Popular choices include custom venue watercolor illustrations, personalized monograms, QR codes that link to wedding websites or event details, and vellum overlays featuring custom artwork inspired by the couple’s story, venue, or wedding aesthetic. These details help create a cohesive and memorable experience for guests while reflecting the couple’s unique style.  

WiH: Are there any wedding stationery trends you’re seeing couples gravitate toward more right now?

Bering’s: Some of the biggest wedding stationery trends right now include green color palettes, online RSVPs in place of traditional reply cards, and letterpress printing, which remains a favorite for its timeless, luxurious feel.  We’re also seeing increased interest in blind embossing, die-cut invitation shapes, and the use of multiple paper colors throughout an invitation suite to reflect the wedding’s overall color palette. Other popular design elements include printed patterns on the back of invitations and colored backing layers that create a reveal effect, adding dimension and a unique visual surprise for guests.

WiH: What details should couples keep consistent across their stationery and invitation to give their paper goods a cohesive look?

Bering’s: One of the most effective ways to create a cohesive invitation suite is to carry design elements across multiple pieces. For example, artwork featured on an envelope liner can be incorporated into other stationery components, such as a belly band, vellum overlay, or insert card. Repeating these details helps tie the entire suite together and creates a more polished, intentional design.
