“I told Vivian that I got us annual passes to the Dallas Arboretum for Christmas, which I did,” says Matt. “I also told her that with the passes, we got an hour of photos around the gardens for free…which we didn’t.” It was that little fib, though, that enabled a surprise proposal in a gorgeous garden setting, caught on film for posterity by the professional photographer Matt had hired for the momentous occasion. The Dallas-based pair, who met in Boston where she was a student at Wellesley College and he was attending MIT, chose The Gallery for their Houston marriage celebration, where they blended their Chinese and Jewish cultures against the venue’s picturesque backdrop, for a uniquely personal wedding, where guests enjoyed spring rolls and a Chinese lion dance, along with the groom’s Jewish “smashing the glass” ritual and a lively horah, with the newlyweds held aloft in chairs. Notes Vivian, “It could not have been more perfect for us.”
