5 Super-Stylish “Something Blue” Picks for Fashionable Brides

OK y’all, we’ll leave the “something old” and “something borrowed” up to you (and your mom, grandma, favorite auntie, BFFs, etc..). But for something new and beautifully, bridally blue, we’ve hand-selected five “something blue” bridal finds we’re pretty sure you’ll find it hard not to fall in love with!

La Perla- Macrame Macrame Tale Bodysuit: La Perla

It’s not often that we come across a piece of lingerie that is as exquisite as it is supportive, but La Perla’s Macrame Tale Bodysuit happens to be just such a piece. Form-fitting, sensual, feminine and bolstered by delicate padding and ultra-comfortable underwire, this blue-if-it’s-a-bride bodysuit slips perfectly underneath (non-strapless) wedding dresses…and is equally well suited to wedding-night canoodling, or a romantic honeymoon romp. Oh la la!

blue-earrings-jewelry-Neiman Kiki McDonough Detachable Drop Earrings: Neiman Marcus

Classic in cut, but modern in style, Kiki McDonough’s gold-and-blue-topaz drop earrings get an extra dash of sparkle from delicate inlaid diamonds–just one of the reasons they’re preternaturally popular with McDonough’s well-heeled London clientele AND a favorite of brides who want their “something blue” to be something they’ll pass on to future generations.

Blue Topaz- bloomindales Blue Topaz Y Necklace: Bloomingdale’s

If you’re planning on wearing a super-haute plunging-neckline bridal gown, you’ll want to check out Bloomingdale’s exclusive blue-topaz drop Y-chain necklace. We’re crazy about this piece’s simple sophistication and briolette-pendant dazzle. And we’re equally excited about repurposing this Y-chain for cocktail parties, date nights and fun-in-the-sun festivities long after the last post-reception sparkler has sputtered!

Maria-Badgley Mischka Maria Embellished Evening Shoe: Badgley Mischka

A gorgeously embellished, brilliantly sparkling, sleek satin, subtle blue Badgley-Mischka bridal pump is all any bride needs to complement just about any bridal gown silhouette and get her “something blue” squared away, all at once, in flawless style.

Kendra-nail polish Turquoise Nail Lacquer: Kendra Scott

Oh, Kendra…your drop earrings make our lobes yearn for them, your pendants give us palpitations on the regular, and now, NOW, your gem-inspired nail lacquers (turquoise, most especially) are giving us the bridal blues in the best way ever. Black and Ivory Wedding With Red Roses Galore

So, once upon a time, Ashleigh was assigned to a project at work. This was a project for a specific company—Quinn’s company. Ashleigh can still envision him strolling into the meeting with “a sweet smile and odd motorcycle boots,” which of course caught her attention. And it was apparent that she caught Quinn’s attention, too. She says, “He made googly eyes at me throughout the meeting…and I knew I was in trouble.” Well, it appears Quinn’s not-so-sly moves worked, because just a little ways down the road, the couple decided to build their very own Houston home together. They were on the construction site for what was supposed to be a scheduled walk-through…but actually turned out to be a surprise proposal! Quinn got down on one knee on the balcony of their soon-to-be-finished home and asked Ashleigh to be his forever! Guests received elegant invites, made by Isabella Invitations, to the couple’s elegant wedding, with its sophisticated design scheme of black, white and red, red roses (the latter provided by florist Dream Bouquet). And wasn’t Ashleigh just the picture-perfect bride in a Lillian West ballgown dress from Whittington Bridal? We bet all our chips that Quinn certainly thought so : ) Truly a beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple. Congrats to Ashleigh and Quinn!

Blush & Cream Houston Wedding by J. Cogliandro Photography

This Houston wedding story is going to give you all the feels, so be prepared! Lindsey and Drew met in February of 2012 at the Philadelphia airport’s international check-in. They were on their way to a 10-day adventure in Israel with a group organization, and by the end of the trip they had each separately told their friends that they found their person. Lindsey had no clue Drew had said the same thing to his friends that she had, until the night of their rehearsal dinner, when Drew’s best man recalled in his speech, “Drew came home and said he’d met the girl he was going to marry.” Goosebumps. Drew absolutely insisted on proposing in a way that would mean the world to Lindsey. He had been working with Lindsey’s boss to get her to Philadelphia airport’s international check-in for a fake business trip…and he proposed right there where they’d first met many years ago. “The area was empty except for one older security staff member, who told us we had restored his faith in humanity,” the bride recounts. After spending the entire day in Philadelphia to celebrate as a newly engaged couple, Lindsey and Drew were returned home to a surprise celebration with their families! The pair then started to plan their Houston wedding. With 230 of their friends and loved ones in attendance, Lindsey and Drew said, “I do.” However, they took the traditional wedding series of events into their own hands. One of their favorite memories was their “first look” at Discovery Green, after which they stopped with their entire wedding party to have a pre-ceremony drink while taking pictures with J. Cogliandro Photography. (We seriously love this idea!) It’s safe to say that Lindsey and Drew have restored our faith in humanity, too. We couldn’t be happier for this sweet couple!
