Vintage Spanish-Inspired Wedding At Madera Estates

Photo: Ama By Aisha | Venue: Madera Estates

A week after moving back from Stuttgart, Germany, Ian, an Opera singer and the venue director of Conroe event venue Madera Estates, met Paul at McGovern Centennial Gardens during a holiday party in 2016. Two years later, Paul proposed to Ian in NYC after a Broadway show, on top of the iconic Empire State building. It was only fitting for the couple to select Madera Estates for their winter nuptials! “As the venue owner of Madera Estates, we knew immediately we wanted to play to the strengths of the venue, while also doing something completely different and unique to us,” says Ian. “Our leap day wedding was a vintage, Spanish-inspired evening filled with an abundance of candlelight. Deep and rich colors of navy, burgundy, and saffron were complimented by talavera and handmade wrought iron pieces.”

Guests were greeted upon arrival with flower-adorned beer burros and the women in the wedding party wore Frida Kahlo inspired headpieces. The couple tied the knot in a romantic twilight ceremony followed by a show-stopping fireworks display. The celebration moved indoors to Madera Estates’ Hacienda and the newlyweds made their grand reception entrance with adorable alpacas. The evening’s entertainment kicked off with Ian and Paul’s first dance where a drag queen interrupted them acting as a jilted bride! A churro bar and boozy hot chocolate fueled guests for a lively “La Hora Loca” featuring characters on stilts and light up foam sticks. The greatest challenge Ian faced while planning their festive wedding was, “Letting go! As an industry professional, it was hard to not micromanage the process or even day-of details. I call it the blessing and the curse!”

We are so excited to feature this handsome Houston couple and their vintage Spanish-inspired wedding, captured in such detail by Ama By Aisha. Congratulations, Ian & Paul!

After finding their vendors at Weddings In Houston’s I Do! Soiree in 2019, high school sweethearts and soulmates, Brittan and Grant chose the chic, modern Hotel ZaZa Houston Museum District for their elegant fall wedding.

The couple celebrated their nuptials in iconic ZaZa style, surrounded by a timeless palette of white, gold and black. “Our wedding was very classic; white flowers, gold touches and a mixture of dark effects from the ZaZa Phantom Ballroom flooring,” notes the bride. “The hallway had portraits of us lining the walls—a ZaZa touch that we loved!” A delicious meal and cake with Bavarian cream filling by Susie’s Cakes fueled the newlyweds and their 225 guests for an evening of dancing on a black and white striped dance floor beneath an enormous chandelier.

We’re so happy to feature this sweet Houston couple and their gorgeous white, gold and black classic wedding, beautifully captured by Stephania Campos. Congratulations, Brittan & Grant!

Easton and Morghann met in 2012 while Morghann was attending college in Arizona. However, their time together in Arizona was brief because Morghann moved back to Texas to be closer to her family. After six months of a long-distance relationship, Easton visited Morghann for her birthday…and never left! Eight years and a romantic proposal later, Morghann walked down a custom monogrammed white aisle runner to say ‘I do’ to Easton amidst 185 loved ones.

For the reception, the couple added an edgy, modern touch to their venue’s french setting, with a bold palette of black and neutral tones and many personal touches.“There were so many touches to personalize the guest experience,” says the bride. “We had a black-tie event and everyone loved being able to dress up for the night and have a wonderful night out.” The celebratory evening concluded with the newlyweds exiting under a shower of sparklers then enjoying a spectacular fireworks display.“The firework show was a special moment we loved sharing with our guests!”

Alexis got engaged to her high school sweetheart, soul mate, best friend, and spiritual partner Trevor after an unexpected proposal. After picking Alexis up from a trip to the ER, Trevor asked if she still wanted to go out for date night. Never one to turn down a steak dinner, Alexis said yes and went to get ready. “When Alexis came out of my room, the balcony doors were open and rose petals and lights were everywhere,” recalls Trevor. After a heartfelt speech and loads of happy tears, Trevor asked Alexis to be his wife. “The setting of the apartment is especially special because not only was it romantic and intimate, but it was the first place we really experienced dating in the same city after being long distance for 4 years.”

The couple wed at The Astorian in a “very classic but ethereal” ceremony, under a custom altar built by the groom. Cascading greenery, lush white floral arrangements and floating candles filled the industrial-chic venue. Alexis recounts loving the hanging vines over the monogrammed dance floor while her favorite moments were “My first touch and prayer with my husband and my first look with my dad.”

We’re delighted to share with you this ethereal wedding at The Astorian, gorgeously captured by Houston wedding photographer Ama By Aisha. Congratulations, Alexis & Trevor!

Chandler, a dancer, always gave Stephen, a singer and songwriter, a hard time because he had never written a song about her. Until one day, the song Chandler had patiently been waiting for finally got written and played when Stephen proposed to her. Chandler says the biggest challenge they faced while planning their wedding was having to plan it all in just three months, but they pulled it off beautifully at Briscoe Manor! “We wanted our wedding to be big and have all of our close family and friends there to celebrate us, but we also wanted it to be simple and elegant. It was a beautiful combination of both of those things,” says the bride.

Following a serene ceremony in Briscoe Manor’s limestone chapel, the couple joined 275 guests for an energetic reception where the bride and her dad surprised their guests with a choreographed dance! Favorite moments for the bride included “Getting ready with all of my favorite girls, seeing Stephen for the first time as I walked down the aisle, dancing with my dad and getting to celebrate on the dance floor with everyone we love so much.”
