Pretty Minute Maid Park Wedding by J. Cogliandro Photography

She was the girl, he told a friend, he “thought he could never get.” He was the guy who won her heart with a turkey-and-green-olive sandwich (“It was genius!” she says). When the two longtime lovebirds finally made it official, Union Station at Houston Astros’ home Minute Maid Park was the perfect location for “obsessed” sports fan Lindsay and her equally enthusiastic groom Michael. Floral firm Events in Bloom filled the grand, historic space with hanging greenery and glowing candles, complemented the room’s stately columns, uplit in warm shades of amber. Extra kudos to Nadine Moon of Who Made the Cake…who made a cake we can NOT stop talking about, complete with a bottom layer in a subtle white-on-white interpretation of Vincent Van Gogh’s masterpiece “The Starry Night”—“my favorite art piece of all time,” Lindsay says. Huge thanks to international-award-winning J. Cogliandro Photography for superb pix of this wonderful wedding…and warmest wishes to the newlyweds!

Gray, Pink & Cream Hotel ZaZa Wedding by Serendipity Photography

Imagine discovering that your boyfriend’s mother had known your mother before either of you were born—and had even babysat for you while you were itty-bitty! It’s the sort of small-world coincidence that makes you think some things—Emily and Brian’s true love, for instance—are just fated to be. For the couple’s spring wedding, Emily wanted to honor tradition…but she also wanted some super-chic modern flare, to go along with Hotel ZaZa’s hot new 11th-floor Grapevine Room. “Sticking with that I choose charcoal gray as our main color and accented it with pale pinks and creams for a romantic touch,” she tells us. There’s so much we love about this effortlessly elegant wedding, from the bride’s handmade “Mr.” and “Mrs.” chair signs (“I highly recommend doing this if you’re crafty and want something unique…and it was fun!”), to the subtly metallic linens, to the fresh and feminine Blooming Gallery floral arrangements, to the ridiculously pretty pink-bow wedding cake from Edible Designs by Jessie. Check out Serendipity Photography’s fine photos of this delightful Houston wedding. And if you’re hunting for a mid-size venue with amazing style and views for miles, definitely check out ZaZa’s 11th-floor space—it’s an absolute gem. Congratulations, Emily and Brian!

Sweet Spring Yacht Club Wedding by Alicia Pyne Photography

April and Johnny grew up in the same town, but their paths never crossed. Until one day, when the two ended up as college-dorm neighbors, they did. From that moment on, nothing could stand in the way of their true love. Eventually there came the steamy July 4th holiday when Johnny proposed, which adorable April recalls thusly: “We were spending the evening watching the fireworks on Lake Conroe. Johnny brought a picnic dinner, including a Key Lime pie (my favorite) for dessert! After dinner, Johnny pulled out the pie, and written on top with icing were the words, ‘Will You Marry Me?’ Of course, by the time we opened it, half the letters were smudged from the Texas heat. I still caught on where he was going with it, and of course said, ‘Yes!’” While the July proposal may have been smudged by the swelter, the couple’s June 2012 yacht club nuptials are the very picture of springtime’s fresh beauty. There’s April in her Pronovias gown, Johnny is his dashing three-piece suit, Lake Conroe’s blue expanse, the rhythms of a live mariachi band, and a wedding palette of cream, soft pink, and pale aqua you can’t help but fall in love with. Big thanks to HWB first-timer (but, we’re sure, certain-to-be regular) Alicia Pyne for the fabulous photos of this splendid spring wedding. And happiest wishes to the newlyweds!

Texas-Chic Crystal Ballroom Wedding by Sharon Nicole Photography

We don’t often associate the ultra-elegant Crystal Ballroom at the Rice with barbecue and boot mugs. Fortunately for the 220 guests who attended Kristen and Bert’s May wedding, the bride did. Following the couple’s emotional church ceremony—conducted by a friend of the groom’s who’d recently been ordained as a priest—the celebrants headed to the historic Rice Hotel for a fabulous party. “Bert’s family is from Florida, so I wanted to share some wonderful Texas BBQ with them,” bride Kristen explained to us. “The theme and decor of the reception just followed from that. I wanted it to be elegant, but still with the feel of a Texas wine country / barbeque celebration.” Well, Kristen, you certainly achieved your aims, and then some. ’Course it helps to have stellar vendors like Darryl & Co. and Who Made the Cake on your team. Big thanks to Sharon Nicole Photography, big hugs to Kristen and Bert—congratulations!

Classic Houstonian Hotel Wedding by Nicole Chatham Photography

There’s something delightful about the idea of falling in love at your sweatiest, grittiest, most makeup-less best. That’s exactly what happened to Houston bride Christina, whose personal trainer Bart became her husband one day this past May. The couple’s Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa wedding, with its rose-petal-strewn garden ceremony and ballroom reception is the very essence of refined Southern beauty mixed with down-home revelry—in Christina’s words, “a classic, elegant, black-tie event…that was fun!” But amid all the splendor of Blooming Gallery’s creamy rose-and-hydrangea arrangements and twinkling crystal candelabra, all the music and lively Bright Star Productions lighting, nothing shone more radiantly than the bride’s absolutely amazing smile and irresistible dimples (we’re certain Bart would agree). Cheers to Nicole Chatham for her wonderful photos of this wonderful Houston wedding. And our happiest wishes to the happy couple!
