Amanda and Andrew met in 2012 while attending a Texas Christian University football game where they both went to school. Fast-track to six years later: While on a trip in New York City, Amanda’s favorite city, Andrew arranged a surprise of a lifetime during a carriage ride through Central Park…a proposal!

For their summer wedding, the couple chose the modern and sophisticated Hotel ZaZa Memorial City as their wedding venue: “Hotel ZaZa was amazing to work with!” says the bride. Amanda and Andrew tied the knot in a traditional Jewish ceremony beneath a gorgeous chuppah adorned with fresh white flowers, beautifully designed by Plants N’ Petals. For their ballroom reception, “The theme was modern with black, white and metallic highlights,” featuring lush floral centerpieces, chic black tablecloths and oversized crystal chandeliers, all anchored by a gleaming black and white dance floor with dramatic uplighting. Guests indulged in a six-tier amaretto cake with white buttercream frosting and a cookies and cream groom’s cake in the shape of Texas with the TCU logo, both from Cakes by GinaThe joyous newlyweds enjoyed a confetti send-off through Hotel ZaZa before joining their guests at their “Happily Ever After Party” where a DJ, lounge furniture, glow-in-the-dark crowns and necklaces, and after-party drinks and eats awaited them.

We are so excited to feature this gorgeous Houston couple and their stunning modern wedding. Congratulations, Amanda & Andrew!

Black, Ivory & Gold Wedding at Chateau Cocomar by Civic Photos

This week, as all of us take shelter, rebuild and regroup from the unprecedented deluge of Hurricane Harvey, and take stock of everything that is dear and precious to us, we will be sharing some of our favorite weddings of the last few years. If you need an escape, a moment of peace, a reminder of the importance of family, friends and, above all, love, please settle in, snuggle down and join us. And once the storm clouds clear, and the water recedes, let us know what we can do to help you. We are all in this together. #BeStrongHouston #LoveConquersAll

Sometimes your high school love turns into forever. Just ask Houston bride, Lynnette, who married her high school boyfriend, Marco. “We met in high school math class in 2006,” says Lynnette. “We exchanged numbers and have been dating ever since.”

Every Christmas Lynnette’s family holds an anniversary party for her parents — but little did she know that their 30th anniversary had something special in store for her as well. During the celebration, Marco made a special toast for Lynnette’s parents, congratulated them, turned around and said, “I think I am ready to start my own journey today.” He got down on one knee, and the rest was history.

The lovebirds then began to plan their celebration at Chateau Cocomar. Lynnette and Marco wanted a modern, chic theme, and got exactly that thanks to Keisha’s Kreations. The colors ivory, black and hints of gold set the tone for an elegant evening.

Modern Springtime Tent Wedding by Adam Nyholt

Good friends find your keys for you. A best friend finds your future husband for you! That’s what Caroline did for Kathleen, by creating a Match.com account for her bestie…and finding Nick. Although Kathleen wasn’t keen on meeting anyone online, she promised Caroline that she would meet her friend’s boyfriend-material pick, but she couldn’t have known that she and her Match match would end up talking for hours on their first date, until the restaurant shut down, and eventually become an inseparable couple. Fast forward to Kathleen and Nick’s classic-with-a-modern-twist tent wedding, where 210 of their loved ones gathered to witness them tie the knot, then danced the night away beneath a bountiful floral chandelier. Their palette of blush, pink, white and yellow brought to life their vision of a springtime garden wedding, while late-night favors of Whataburger honey-chicken biscuits brought nourishment to guests upon their departure. Thanks, Adam Nyholt, for the lovely photos!
