Vibrant Victoria Wedding by Archetype + Bonus Engagement Shoot Giveaway!

There are so many things we love about this extraordinarily elegant Victoria wedding, we hardly know where to begin. So let’s start bride Meredith herself. The Stephen Yearick gown? Gorgeous. Paired with the chunky necklace and bracelet? Perfection. Plus we love a.) that Meredith’s jewelry is beautifully echoed in the adornment of her Badgley Mischka shoes, b.) that both jewelry pieces look terribly expensive, and c.) that they are actually from Ann Taylor’s very affordable wedding jewelry collection–smart bride! Groom Michael ain’t so bad himself: white tie, orchid boutonniere, pocket square…excellent. OK, moving on to the party, we’re just dazzled by that lovely, lovely reception space, all muted gold and white damask, rising into a beautiful burst of vibrant spring color. Big thanks to the fabulous Terilyn Brown of Houston’s Archetype Studio for sharing radiant images of this exquisite wedding with us, so we could share them with you.

Oh, and there’s one more thing Archetype Studio has in store for one lucky Houston Wedding Blog fan: A professionally styled, two-hour, on-location ENGAGEMENT PHOTO SHOOT, including a complimentary 9×12 heirloom print, total value: $545. Oh yeah.

This prize is non-transferable, good for the greater Houston area only and expires 12/31/2011.

Discovery Green Engagement Shoot by Sarah Ainsworth

Jessica and Richard’s lovely Discovery Green engagement shoot by photographer Sarah Ainsworth has so much to teach us about how to get great results form your ES. First, don’t be afraid of color! It’s no surprise that Discovery Green’s “wall of color” is a hugely popular spot for photo shoots of all kinds. Those blocks of bright color just POP in photos, and lend their energy and excitement to every subject that stands in front of them. But Jessica and Richard take it a couple steps further, bringing their own bright hues into the picture. Beautiful. Love the his ‘n hers Converse, too! OK, second, include your best friend (you know, the one with the paws and the tail). So many cohabiting to-be-wed couples share a beloved pet, they’re more like a trio than a duo. Plus, dogs are just CUTE. Third, and maybe most importantly, have a little fun with your photos. In addition to serious shots with serious expressions that show the depth of your emotions, bring in a few whimsical, humorous or flirty poses–Jessica and Richard’s totally adorable photo-in-the-photo and “Richard, the photographer” shots are perfect examples. Sometimes letting down your guard a little (or a LOT) makes for the most meaningful and cherished engagement shots of all. Thanks, Sarah. And congrats, Jessica and Richard!

Sixth Ward Engagement Shoot by Ashley K Photography

Not many of our couples choose gritty urban landscapes for their engagement shoots. But we think that may change, once y’all get a look at Lan and Avi’s Houston engagement photos by the brilliant Ashley Kohlleffel of Ashley K Photography. Notes Ashley, “We shot this in Houston’s Sixth Ward off Washington Avenue…an eclectic mix of new and old. Lan and Avi had such a cool, relaxed approach to their session. They were so easy to shoot!” Probably doesn’t hurt that these mellow to-be-weds happen to be downright gorgeous, too. We never knew graffiti and chain-link fences could be so darn…romantic. But Lan and Avi (and Ashley) make them so.

Sunny, Springtime Engagement Shoot by Adam Nyholt

Okay, it’s official: The cutest couple award goes to Carson and Morgan, two lovebirds whose smiles shone brighter than the springtime sun in their San Angelo engagement shoot. Seriously, could a couple look more in love? Of course, in-demand Houston photographer Adam Nyholt deserves a little of the credit for these stunning photos. We particularly love how he uses natural daylight and sentimental outdoor settings—so sweet. Even sweeter? That “Save the Date” shot. Woof! Congratulations, Carson and Morgan. And big thanks to Adam for sharing this sun-dappled shoot with us…and you!
