With a partner as sweet as Robert, it’s no wonder why Leslie said, “Yes,” to him. “He proposed at our home on Christmas Eve before being joined by family. He wanted us to each open one gift that night, so I suspected something was up,” recalled Leslie. “I opened a photo album that had ‘The Mays’ engraved on the front. The album was filled with pictures of us, and the last page had an insert that read ‘Engagement photo?'” Awww. Their rustic autumn wedding at picturesque Briscoe Manor had everything we love: lush, bright florals; outdoor “I do’s;” and tons of candlelight at a party that lasted deep into the night. Following their moonlit ceremony, the newlyweds, along with 150 of their closest family and friends, feasted on pecan smoked pork loin with truffle mustard and chicken with Kentucky Bourbon teriyaki. Uh…yum! Congratulations to you both, Leslie and Robert, and may you enjoy a lifetime of love and happiness!

The story behind Peter and Emelie’s Miami Beach engagement shoot is one of risk-taking, romance and resilience. Peter was living on the Caribbean island of St. Barts when he came across Emelie on Tinder. “She was visiting from Sweden and was on the neighboring island of St Martin,” Peter explains. “I bought her a boat ticket and shipped her right over. We hit it off AMAZINGLY!” A year later, the couple was living on St. Barts when Hurricane Irma barreled down on them, destroying their home and forcing them to flee. “It was a terrifying experience, to say the least,” Peter says. Fortunately, Peter and Emelie were able to find an apartment near the beach in Delray, Fla. And photographer Barett Henry, of Houston-based Civic Photos, was able to capture the essence of the “paradise” they had left behind, in their lovely Miami Beach engagement shoot. “Barett found such a beautiful location for us to shoot at, on the sands of Miami Beach, with a tropical vibe that takes me back to where we first met on St. Barts in the Caribbean,” Emelie says. “I especially love the photographs of Peter and me by the rooftop pool, with the high-rises and big-city feel that our new life in South Florida offers, in the background.” Big thanks to Civic Photos for sharing these sublime images, and to Peter and Emelie for sharing their harrowing, and, ultimately, happy, love story! Long, long before their beautiful Ashton Gardens wedding, there was the first moment Sarah and Trevor met, when they were only 12 years old. “My family had moved to Houston and began attending the same church as Trevor’s family,” Sarah explains. “Trevor and I were each other’s first kiss in high school, and we deeply cared for one another from an early age.” When it came time for college, the two went their separate ways, as high-school sweethearts often do. It would be 10 years before they saw each other again, this time at a different church in Houston, where they both resided once again. Because her mother had, sadly, passed away four years prior to her wedding, Sarah’s father stepped up to take over “so many roles to help me with the wedding,” she recounts, “including sweetly buttoning me into my gown, since my mom was not there.” Not just that, the bride says, but, “He also gifted me with an oil painting of my mother, which reserved the spot in the front pew where she would have sat. I loved getting to save that space for her.” And we love getting to share Sarah and Trevor’s poignant wedding story and Houston winter wedding with y’all. Congratulations to the happy couple!
