A Stylish Ballroom Reception for Friends Turned Lovers

Nakota and Connor met in 2013 while attending Texas Tech University. Though they went on a few casual dates, they remained friends throughout their college years. After graduation, they both moved back home to Dallas. “Despite him being my plus one to many Dallas Cowboys football games and Christmas parties, we still remained just friends,” the bride says. They both unintentionally moved to Houston just a few months apart. Less than a year later, Nakota and Connor stopped ignoring the signs and began dating.

After a few years of dating, Connor proposed to Nakota in the charming white gazebo at Brenner’s on the Bayou . To her surprise, the celebration continued upstairs in a private room at the restaurant, where both of their families were waiting to toast the occasion. The night didn’t end there—Nakota and Connor were surprised with an engagement party hosted at her best friend’s house. “We really are blessed with the most incredible friends and family,” the bride shares.

The couple exchanged vows in April 2025 at the C. Baldwin, Curio Collection by Hilton. The couple took a moment to read each other’s heartfelt notes before the ceremony began. Their chic black-and-white-themed reception was brought to life in the hotel’s stylish ballroom. After the ceremony, Nakota slipped into a dazzling white sequin mini dress paired with silver, sparkly cowgirl boots. The reception was lively, featuring signature cocktails, joyful dancing, and endless celebration. The evening concluded with a romantic flower petal send-off as the newlyweds made their getaway in a classic, vintage red car. The perfect exit for their chic wedding celebration.
