We’ll admit it, at Weddings in Houston, we don’t just love “Love.” Weddings are our full-blown obsession. It’s not just our day job; it’s our favorite topic at work, at lunch, and in weekend group texts. With a couple of team members recently tying the knot, or counting down the days until they do, we’ve been living and breathing wedding planning right alongside you.

So, when a recent New York Times article about Gen Z weddings landed on our radar, it instantly sent our entire office into full discussion mode. Not only did it echo exactly what we’ve been seeing in our own pages, feeds, and submissions, but it also spotlighted just how distinct this generation’s approach to weddings has become.

For Gen Z, a wedding isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about crafting a full-scale experience, one that’s personal, beautiful, and ready for its social debut. Their Pinterest boards are meticulously organized, TikToks are bookmarked for inspiration, and Instagram is both a vision board and the highlight reel. Many Gen Z couples are hiring content creators to capture the big day, from styled flat lays to the last spins on the dance floor, in real time. We wouldn’t expect less from this generation that has never known planning without the internet.

Personalization isn’t a garnish. It’s the whole recipe. Think custom logos and family crests in place of standard monograms. Décor, signage, and favors are matched to the color palette. At a Gen Z wedding, every touchpoint is part of a larger narrative, and every element is part of the story.

Fashion is getting its own refresh, too. While millennials often embraced the daring or unexpected, Gen Z brides are leaning toward more modest, historically inspired silhouettes, including elegant drop waists, higher necklines, and long sleeves. In an age when one wedding photo can go viral in minutes, and with it, thousands of opinions, choosing a “timeless” look is both a style preference and a safeguard against the internet’s sometimes ruthless commentary.

And while they’re savvy about their budgets, Gen Z is willing to splurge where it counts, making intentional choices to achieve the aesthetic they envision. The result? Celebrations that feel distinctive, polished, and unmistakably theirs.

Gen Z weddings are part celebration, part content strategy, and 100% their own. And if that means we get more scroll-stopping wedding moments in our feeds, we’re absolutely here for it.
