When introduced through mutual friends, the spark Shawn and Darla both felt was undeniable. Fast-forward to an unforgettable Las Vegas weekend getaway with loved ones where, Shawn says, “In a beautiful suite filled with our family, friends, flowers, Champagne and a musician playing what would become our wedding song, Darla asked me to spend forever with her, and made me the happiest woman on Earth!” Their weekend wedding at the Gulf Coast’s grande dame of venues, Hotel Galvez & Spa, kicked off with a poolside welcome gathering. “The Hotel Galvez was always our number one pick! We love the beauty and the history of the property,” says Shawn. On Saturday, the threat of rain prompted a last-minute tented ceremony, beautifully decorated with greenery and crystal chandeliers. Shawn glittered in a custom Pnina Tornai ballgown, paired with diamond and pearl earrings designed for her by Darla, while Darla wowed the crowd in a custom Christian Siriano pantsuit and silver Miu Miu sandals. At the lushly decorated ballroom reception, guests took in ocean views, and enjoyed a gourmet “tastings” menu. Susie’s Cakes & Confections provided two cakes—a buttercream and white-almond cake with pineapple and raspberry fillings, and a German chocolate cake covered in fresh blooms. In lieu of gifts, the newlyweds requested that guests make donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of their niece. After dancing into the wee hours, guests slept in, then enjoyed a wonderful Father’s Day farewell brunch on Sunday, because, “We wanted our guests to know how much we appreciated them being there to celebrate with us!”
