Courtney + Josh
When your typically picky sister says the cute guy you’ve met at a mixer is “worth a date,” you’d be wise to act on her advice. Just ask Courtney, who took her “tough critic” sib’s recommendation to heart, and will forever be grateful that she did. That first date with Josh led to a second, then many, many more, until one fateful May evening when Josh surprised Courtney with an outdoor proposal as family and friends looked on from a nearby rooftop. The couple, who reside in Chicago, chose the bride’s hometown of Houston for their winter nuptials, transforming The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa into a wedding wonderland, with the help of planner Jim Gray of Grayhouse Events Atelier and designer Todd Fiscus of Todd Events. “The chuppah and ceiling treatment were two of our personal favorites,” Courtney says. “Todd’s creativity was unlike anything we had ever seen. He and his team truly took our vision and created a perfect evening.” She adds: “The weekend was full of many special touches—everything from our welcome baskets, which were filled with items we love, to a customized letter sharing our favorite Houston spots for our out-of-towners to enjoy, to our iced-coffee cart on the dance floor during our late-night bites! Every detail was thought through, leading to a night that truly felt like ours.”
