A chance encounter between HPD officer Jerry and Amy led to sparks of romance, a lasting courtship, and Jerry's heartfelt proposal with their families present. For their January wedding, the couple wanted their guests "to pull out their black-tie attire but also feel comfortable," says bride Amy. Their elegant taupe and champagne celebration at The Astorian achieved exactly that. Amy walked down the aisle in a stunning Monique Lhuillier gown from Joan Pillow Bridal Salon. The reception decor featured luxurious taupe velvet linens, handmade overlays and dramatic displays of fresh flowers. "When we entered our reception and saw our loved ones all together, it brought tears to our eyes," says Amy. The couple's monogram was featured everywhere, from the dance floor to the personalized acrylic seating arrangements, on napkins and even the miniature sliders. Guests enjoyed passed hors 'd oeuvre and appetizers, followed by an elegant seated dinner by Cordúa Catering. The cake from Cakes by Gina was decorated to reflect the lace of Amy's gown and featured three different fillings. An on-site typist composed original poems for the guests as they danced the evening away against the Houston skyline. After sharing a private and romantic last dance, Amy and Jerry exited under a shower of sparklers while Amy's favorite Disney movie was projected on the exterior of the venue. The couple continued their fairytale with a romantic honeymoon to Tokyo and Bangkok.
