Romantic And Intimate Summer Wedding By Ama By Aisha
Planning a wedding is hard enough…but planning a wedding in the middle of a global pandemic is even harder! College sweethearts Elly and Trevor faced countless challenges while trying to navigate their intimate summer wedding in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Should they postpone? Should they cancel? Or should they stick to their original date? Luckily love prevailed and they managed to pull off the celebration of a lifetime at The Astorian. “COVID-19 was definitely the biggest obstacle for us,” says the bride. “We had planned, postponed, then decided on June 19th that we were going to get married on our original date (June 27th), no matter what the day looked like. Everything seemed to fall into place after we made the decision to move forward and called our vendors. It ended up being the most gorgeous day I could have ever imagined. It was the ideal intimate wedding experience.” A gorgeous day indeed, and we are so thankful towards Houston wedding photographer Ama By Aisha for beautifully capturing their special day!
Following their church ceremony, the couple joined 50 of their nearest and dearest at The Astorian for an intimate wedding reception. The reception decor was romantic and elegant, featuring a beautiful summer color palette of white, blush and green with champagne and dusty blue accents. Menu highlights from Cordúa Catering included Golf crab cakes, smoked lamb lollichops, and truffled grilled cheese. The meal’s sweet finish featured a five-tier white wedding cake accented with blue Italian tile print and a yeti groom’s cake, both from Cakes By Gina. The memorable night ended with the couple exiting under a shower of golden sparklers before making their getaway in a vintage 1955 Rolls Royce. The bride’s favorite moment? “Getting ready with my girls in The Astorian bridal suite was perfect,” says the bride. “We blasted our music and drank mimosas while getting our hair and makeup done!” We’re so happy that everything worked out for newlyweds Elly and Trevor and excited to share their romantic and intimate summer wedding with y’all. Congratulations, Elly & Trevor!
Elegant Spring Wedding At The Astorian
After meeting through mutual friends, Michael and Kelley found themselves smitten with each other, right from the get-go. Their connection soon turned into romance, and after five happy years, Michael decided it was time to make things official. One fateful day after brunch, Michael and Kelley took their dog, Dunkin, out for a walk…which ultimately turned into a memory Kelley will always cherish, after Kelley noticed a pink heart tag on the dog’s collar that read, “Mom, can we keep him?” and on the other side, “Will you marry me?” OK, guys, how sweet is that? Michael’s creative proposal worked, and the following May, Kelley and Michael tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at the same church where the bride’s parents had been married. The pair’s spring Astorian wedding reception had it all, from the elegant decor and the spectacular city view, to fantastic entertainment and exquisite food. Their 275 guests were treated to the sublime cuisine of Cordúa Catering. “Cordúa Catering knocked it out of the park,” notes the bride. “They provided the traditional carving station with some fun, modern options like the Mac & Cheese Bar, the Raw Seafood Bar, and a Salad Wall.” Yum! Yet the best moment for Kelley and Michael was “…The Astorian’s view of the sunset on downtown Houston. It was breathtaking and a moment we will never forget!” Congratulations to you both!

Burgundy And Gold Winter Wedding
Former high-school friends Andrea and Matt went their separate ways after school–Matt to the Marines, Andrea to college then to work on a cruise ship. And it wasn’t until a full 14 years later that they reconnected at the funeral for a mutual friend’s father, and discovered they had both relocated to Houston. After hanging out casually for awhile, Matt finally worked up the courage to ask Andrea out on a “real” date. “He really had some game!” Andrea recounts, noting that her future husband was “a true Southern gentleman.” Showing up each time “in a spotless, freshly washed truck, he picked me up for concerts, dinners out, movies, and he even sent me flowers!” she says. While finding time to plan their wedding was the biggest challenge for attorney Andrea and mechanical engineer Matt, they managed to pull off the celebration of a lifetime at The Astorian. Surrounded by a rich, wintry wedding color palette of burgundy, navy and gold, the pair and their 220 guests feasted on fried-oyster nachos, stuffed pork tenderloin and mascarpone mashed potatoes from Cordúa Catering, along with a six-tier bride’s cake and a U.S. Marine-theme groom’s cake, both from Cakes By Gina. We’re grateful to newlyweds Andrea and Matt for sharing their burgundy and gold winter wedding, and their love story, with us. Thanks, too, to Ama By Aisha for the lovely photos of Andrea and Matt’s burgundy and gold winter wedding celebration!
