HWB Hearts: Treats for Wedding Feet!

Weddings, especially destination weddings, can be tough on a gal’s tootsies. The sand, the sea, the verdant lawns, all that walking back and forth from cabana to pool…all that DANCING. Allow us to offer a little something sweet for your weary feet (and other assorted parts). We’re especially loving the new SoleMates Outdoor Essentials kit, which features a pair of the brand’s awesome High Heeler heel tips, along with sunscreen, aloe gel and dainty little natural insect repellent towelettes. Aww… And of course, we eternally adore Oprah favorite FootzyRolls, especially in those cute shimmery metallics, and Flexflops equally practical foldable flip-flops. Any one of these would make a great in-room gift for your wedding-bound bridesmaids or best gals. Dontcha think?

HWB Inspiration Board: Blue Glass and Bright Blooms

The beauty of blue glass. Vintage blue “Ball” mason jars, frosted blue glass votive holders, aqua blue glass vases, palest blue glass bowls, classic vintage -style blue and white dishes–we love them all. Fill them with loosely arranged, long-stemmed dahlias, ranunculus or frilly peonies. Keep the flower colors bright (red, orange, yellow, deep pink), the arrangements unfussy, and don’t be afraid to mix and match a variety of vessels when planning your table setting. Set against a backdrop of crisp, bright white. Did you ever think the blues could make you so darn happy?

Dramatic Downtown Wedding by Nhan Nguyen Photography

August was hot in Houston. Ridiculously hot. Obscenely hot. But you’d never know it from looking at Tiffanie and Khuong, who celebrated their union at Hotel ZaZa, in downtown’s Museum District. This supremely stylish pair looked cool as cut diamonds, Tiffanie in a stunning Winnie Couture gown and crystal-encrusted Louboutins, Khuong in tux and Chucks (we love it!). We can’t help but get swept up in the shimmer and high drama of their theatrical fĂȘte, created with the help of the awesome Mai Dang of Honeydew Events and the design genius of Darryl & Co. in ZaZa’s cinematic Phantom Ballroom. Big thanks to the extraordinary Nhan Nguyen for gorgeous photos of this sparkling soiree. And big congrats to the bride and groom!

Priscilla of Boston to Close at End of Year

Well, it’s a sad day on the bridal-design scene. We just received news that the venerable Priscilla of Boston design house will cease operations at the end of the year. Salons, including Houston’s Uptown Park Priscilla of Boston store, will remain open through December 31, 2011, to serve existing clients and complete remaining orders. No new dress orders are being taken at this time. Click here for more details on the closure and what it means for brides.

If you’ve ordered a Priscilla of Boston gown for your upcoming wedding, please don’t panic. We suggest you phone the Houston store at 713.526.1886 to confirm your order, discuss details…and get some much-needed reassurance.

Those of you who were looking forward to shopping for a Priscilla of Boston gown–you’ll simply have to turn your attention to the MANY other amazing designers featured in our favorite Houston salons. A good place to start: This weekend’s Labor Day sales at Parvani Vida and Winnie Couture!

Vibrant Victoria Wedding by Archetype + Bonus Engagement Shoot Giveaway!

There are so many things we love about this extraordinarily elegant Victoria wedding, we hardly know where to begin. So let’s start bride Meredith herself. The Stephen Yearick gown? Gorgeous. Paired with the chunky necklace and bracelet? Perfection. Plus we love a.) that Meredith’s jewelry is beautifully echoed in the adornment of her Badgley Mischka shoes, b.) that both jewelry pieces look terribly expensive, and c.) that they are actually from Ann Taylor’s very affordable wedding jewelry collection–smart bride! Groom Michael ain’t so bad himself: white tie, orchid boutonniere, pocket square…excellent. OK, moving on to the party, we’re just dazzled by that lovely, lovely reception space, all muted gold and white damask, rising into a beautiful burst of vibrant spring color. Big thanks to the fabulous Terilyn Brown of Houston’s Archetype Studio for sharing radiant images of this exquisite wedding with us, so we could share them with you.

Oh, and there’s one more thing Archetype Studio has in store for one lucky Houston Wedding Blog fan: A professionally styled, two-hour, on-location ENGAGEMENT PHOTO SHOOT, including a complimentary 9×12 heirloom print, total value: $545. Oh yeah.

This prize is non-transferable, good for the greater Houston area only and expires 12/31/2011.

Next, e-mail us with your name, fiancĂ©’s name, wedding date and location, and a bit about how/where you got engaged. Engagement descriptions don’t have to be lengthy, but please do let us know any exciting, unusual or insanely romantic details.
