“Derek and I were living on Grand Cayman Island during my first year of veterinary school,” explains Lacy. “We took a walk with the dogs along Seven Mile Beach and sat down for a picnic. He asked me to marry him while we were watching the sunset over the water.” Simple. Romantic. Perfect. These words, which describe Lacy and Derek’s engagement, are also tailor-made for describing their country-club wedding, which the couple plotted out to be “relaxed and comfortable at all times.” From the Salvation Army Harbor Light Choir’s pre-ceremony accompaniment to the “roadie bar setup” created for guests to enjoy en route from the ceremony to reception, to the vintage VW-van “photo booth,” to the delicate floral arrangements by Todd Events, their wedding was both unimposing and unforgettable.”
