Hannah + Ryan
University of Texas classmates Ryan and Hannah got engaged at Lake Travis in the presence of their families, whom Ryan had arranged to have on hand, as a surprise for his bride-to-be. The two wed in the chapel of Ashton Gardens West, in a "light and airy" ceremony where the pastor read a poem about a kite and its string. Says the bride: "Ryan has always said I am his kite and he is my string. I lift him up, and I am the dreamer, while he is the one who is a realist and more grounded. Together we work in perfect harmony." The moment the couple kissed for the first time as husband and wife, a flower cannon went off showering the newlyweds with white rose petals, as their loved ones cheered on. While Hannah placed being happy on their wedding day at the top of her priority list, she also showed great sensitivity to her 13 bridesmaids, many of whom were college students at the time: "I tried to keep everyone's budgets and body types in mind. I didn't want them to spend a fortune on a dress they would only wear one time, and then it would hang in the back of their closet forever." The solution? Halter-neck long satin dresses from a popular mall store, that the bridesmaids got for a steal on a "BOGO" sale. "Boom, baby!" Hannah says. "And they looked STUNNING."
