Cristina + Sean
Cristina, a Federal agent, and Sean, a CPA, were paired up quite by chance – or perhaps an extra-observant instructor – at a country line dancing lesson. Of their wedding at Las Velas, Christina says the biggest challenge was "incorporating different family and cultural traditions into a short ceremony and reception window". Their Spanish-Catholic and Persian cultures were integrated with a moving ceremony featuring traditional Catholic vows followed by a beautiful Persian Sofreh Aghd. The decor was reminiscent of a Spanish villa and reflected both cultures with lush red floral arrangements designed by Andy Hopper of Blooms Design Studio, rentals by Royal Luxury Events and a delicious multicultural menu. Guests were entertained by a Spanish flamenco guitarist during the cocktail hour and belly dancers at the reception. The event was beautifully documented by photographer Blanca Duran. Cristina and Sean performed a traditional Persian knife dance – in which the couple receives money in exchange for the cake knife – before cutting a gorgeous classic threetier white cake by Cakes by Gina. Favorite moments of the lively reception for Cristina included dancing a Spanish Sevillana with her mother and "when the groom and his groomsmen did a performance of Backstreet Boys', ‘I Want It That Way!’" The evening concluded with a celebratory exit as the couple dashed to their Rolls Royce under a festive shower of red carnations.
