Amanda + Mark
Amanda’s first good decision about Mark? Taking note of his scientific prowess, and making sure to be his lab partner in their high-school organic chemistry class (she went on to become a dermatologist). Her second? Saying, “Yes,” to his emailed invitation to dinner after they bumped into each other by chance seven years later. She said, “Yes,” once again, when Mark surprised her by proposing as they relaxed beside the fireplace at a Savannah bed-and-breakfast—“I thought he’d brought me there as a birthday gift!” she recounts. The couple’s utterly elegant wedding—“We love to have an excuse to dress up in black tie,” the bride explains—was, nevertheless, anything but overly formal or stuffy. “We wanted to make sure everyone had a great time by bringing in a fun band, and delicious food.” And while, she says, “We both wished the party could go on forever,” she adds, “the most special part of the evening was when we slow-danced alone after everyone had gone downstairs for the exit.”
