Ben met Walker at a Montrose bar in June 2019 while on tour with a Broadway show. Bonding over their mutual love for Disney, they chatted until closing time and exchanged numbers. Ben invited Walker to see his performance in Aladdin, where Walker surprised Ben with a gorgeous bouquet. Ben’s three-week stay in Houston was filled with unforgettable dates.

Despite the long distance and Covid, their relationship flourished. In June 2022, they both planned secret proposals to each other while on a Disney cruise. During a sunset dinner on the cruise, Ben proposed with the ring presented with dessert. “Everything about this dinner was magical,” says Ben. A few days later, Walker proposed to Ben with a gold fortune cookie enclosing a sweet message on a beach with crystal blue water, soft sand, and clear skies above.

Before the big day, Walker and Ben had a welcome party at an authentic Mexican restaurant that set the mood for the weekend. The wedding day began with the grooms and the wedding party getting ready at The Laura Hotel, Autograph Collection. Ben and Walker exchanged vows at the Water Works in Buffalo Bayou Park in an al fresco ceremony with white florals and the Houston skyline as their background. Both their mothers walked them down the aisle, and their fathers served as ring bearers, with rings from Deutsch Fine Jewelry. “It was such a beautiful and meaningful part of the ceremony when they stepped up to hand us the rings,” says Ben.

The celebration continued with a vibrant garden-themed reception at the Houston steakhouse, Brenner’s on the Bayou. Ben serenaded guests with a special original song. A special touch to the couple’s wedding day were tribute cards placed on each guests’ chairs, honoring the LGBTQ+ community that had come before them and made their wedding possible. LOVE WINS.
