WEDDINGS IN HOUSTON FALL 2014 | REAL WEDDING FEATURE
Michelle and Chris ~ September 14, 2013
While Michelle admits that meeting Chris as a high-school senior “was not love at first sight, as I was not looking for a boyfriend,” her future husband’s persistence paid off. Seven years after they met, the couple joined together in matrimony, with an elegant wedding in Chateau Cocomar’s magnificent castle-like setting, complete with marble floors and twinkling chandeliers. Michelle’s chosen palette of soft neutrals and a hint of blush pink created an air of timeless romance—the perfect backdrop for the newlyweds’ first dance (Michelle’s favorite wedding memory), and every moment thereafter. At the night’s close, guests held aloft 20-inch-long sparklers as Mr. and Mrs. O’Malley shared a kiss.
“Sean proposed to me on Christmas Eve 2011 at my parents’ house. We have a family tradition of each person opening one gift the night before Christmas. That year my mom decided the gift would be an ornament with an inspirational message inside. Everyone opened their ornaments and read their messages aloud, one at a time. I was last because my mom couldn’t seem to find my ornament on the tree. Sean found the ornament for her and he handed it to me. When I opened it my message read, ‘Will you marry me?’ I was so shocked and excited that I didn’t even notice that he was already down on one knee with the ring in his hand telling me how much he loves me. It was perfect! I loved finding out later that Sean had asked my dad for his permission before proposing.” We love it, too, Jessica. And, just like your mom, we love that you had her wedding gown altered to wear at your rehearsal dinner at The Grove. And that you made the invitations to your Chateau Cocomar wedding by hand. And that Sean’s favorite moment of the whole wedding was when he got his “first look” at you, privately, in the moments before the ceremony. And, most of all, that you and Sean found each other, and true love, in this big, wide world. Congratulations to you both, and big thanks to the exceptional Steve Lee for magnificent photos of this magnificent Houston wedding.

Looking absolutely gorgeous in her Lazaro gown, bride Corina wed handsome groom Eric in front of 130 of the couple’s nearest and dearest. And despite the heat of the summer day, Chateau Cocomar looked fresh and cool for the occasion, filled as it was with crisp linens, gorgeous blush and ivory flowers courtesy of Arteflora, and plenty of light-catching crystals. For all its elegant formality, this Houston couple’s wedding was also FUN, featuring dancing, sparklers, teddy bears…and a performance by none other than the bride herself! Our thanks to Lulu Lopez for the great photos, and our heartfelt congratulations to the lovebirds, Corina and Eric.

When Chateau Cocomar throws a party to thank its brides, you know that party is going to be something special. And the April bridal luncheon the Houston venue hosted to show its gratitude and love for its 2012 brides was very special indeed. Designed by the exceptionally talented Tamara Menges, in homage to the 1920s decadence of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby,” the lovely luncheon featured shades of cream, white, ivory, gold, blush and champagne, with de rigeur touches of feathers, pearls and lace. We’re so delighted to feature photographer Holly Hoyt’s dreamy photos of this gorgeous event at the beautiful Chateau Cocomar. Seriously, how beautiful is this event? Let us know what you think! Today, we’re thrilled to feature the first-ever engagement shoot at Chateau Cocomar—Houston’s newest wedding venue…and, we’re sure, destined to be one the city’s most coveted. Says photographer Anthony Dinh of Composure Studios, “We knew Chateau Cocomar was the perfect location to shoot John and Ly”—the superbly stylish couple at the center of these stunning photos. Dinh says he used Composure Studios’ “still cinematographic” technique, which focuses on “freezing motion and emotions as they occur.” ’Course, it doesn’t hurt that groom John is just about as dapper a dude as we’ve ever seen, and gorgeous bride Ly is a knockout in her custom gown. (Can you believe that she did her hair and makeup herself??) This wonderful couple looks as if they were made to wander, deeply in love, through the acres of polished marble, magnificent arches and sparkling crystal of Chateau Cocomar. Photographer Dinh couldn’t agree more. “We want our clients to continue to feel what they felt during their session whenever they are viewing their photos,” says. “We wouldn’t have it any other way.” Amen to that. Thank you to Composure Studios. A warm welcome to Chateau Cocomar. And, most of all, congratulations and happiest wishes to John and Ly.
