Sarah and Humberto’s Houston garden wedding has it all, y’all. There’s the beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony surrounded by friends, family and sunshine, at indoor-outdoor Houston wedding venue Hughes Manor. And there’s the TDF wedding cake from Cakes By Gina, with its metallic stacks and floral accents. Weddings in Houston Celebrates 30 Years
30 years of brides. 30 years of grooms. 30 years of “I said, ‘Yes!'” and “It was the best night of my life!” 30 years of first looks, first dances, first newlywed kisses. 30 years of fairytale gowns and joyful tears and dreams come true. The thing about being Houston’s longest published wedding magazine is that while weddings may be once-in-a-lifetime, we get to live and breathe weddings, and the joy they bring, day in and day out, year after year. And on Sept. 21, we celebrated that gift, and the incredible vendors and wedding experts who make it possible, with a magnificent gala at Corinthian – Houston.
Here, we share a glimpse at the fun and fabulousness of our 30th Anniversary Gala and Client Appreciation Party. Like many Houston events, our gala was affected by Hurricane Harvey’s wrath. With a sudden city power outage affecting our original host venue, The Ballroom at Bayou Place, our team of professionals had 24 hours to move this 300-person formal event to the Corinthian-Houston. We were so impressed with the level of ingenuity and unflappable professionalism each partner exhibited. Without missing a beat, they provided gorgeous decor, delicious food, a full bar and incredible music, creating a night to remember.
Our heartfelt thanks goes out to our partners, without whom we could not have celebrated in such extraordinary style: Boyd Bryan of Corinthian – Houston for hosting us at such short notice, Craig Howard and Kirksey Gregg of The Ballroom at Bayou Place (which, in spite of a city power outage, is very much in business and continues to host amazing events) for providing our bar and waitstaff; Darryl & Co. and Bright Star Productions for the exquisite decor and lighting; Danny Ray And The Acoustic Production and LG Entertainment for getting everyone on the dance floor; GTX Productions for outstanding video and sound; Jackson and Company, Lola Catering, The Hometown Chef, A La Carte Catering and Bailey Connor Catering for providing an array of delicious food; Susie’s Cakes & Confections and Cakes by Gina for the delectable desserts; Wink by Erica for the macaron favors; and our fantastic gala photographer Civic Photos.

After indulging their discerning palates, Weddings in Houston partners and friends danced the night away to the sounds of LG Entertainment Production and the high-energy interactive performance of Danny Ray and the Acoustic Production.
Guests were treated to a surprise onstage appearance by Weddings in Houston president Vik Day… our resident business man by day, rock star by night.
As always, it was a wonderful experience getting to spend quality time with our friends, partners and associates. Thank you to all of our guests for making it a truly memorable evening. We appreciate you and could not be where we are without YOU!

Sometimes your high school love turns into forever. Just ask Houston bride, Lynnette, who married her high school boyfriend, Marco. “We met in high school math class in 2006,” says Lynnette. “We exchanged numbers and have been dating ever since.”
Every Christmas Lynnette’s family holds an anniversary party for her parents — but little did she know that their 30th anniversary had something special in store for her as well. During the celebration, Marco made a special toast for Lynnette’s parents, congratulated them, turned around and said, “I think I am ready to start my own journey today.” He got down on one knee, and the rest was history.
The lovebirds then began to plan their celebration at Chateau Cocomar. Lynnette and Marco wanted a modern, chic theme, and got exactly that thanks to Keisha’s Kreations. The colors ivory, black and hints of gold set the tone for an elegant evening.
Lynnette walked down the aisle in style wearing a gorgeous fit-and-flare gown from Brickhouse Bridal.
We couldn’t be happier for these two! Thanks Civic Photos for the lovely photos. Keep scrolling for more!

Sophisticated Black, White & Gold Houston Wedding
Katie and Matt had many casual run-ins since high school, but it wasn’t until what turned out to be a special Christmas break when they reconnected at a mutual friend’s birthday party. “He asked me out to dinner the next day at a Mexican restaurant where we grew up, and the rest was history,” says Katie.
After 4 years of dating long distance, Katie moved to Austin to be with Matt. He suggested that they take a weekend trip to New Orleans since neither of them had been. Katie says, “He planned everything and found a great historic hotel in the heart of the French Quarter. We had a full day of exploring the city, and were getting ready to head to dinner. Matt suggested that we should walk around Jackson Square before going to the restaurant. He began talking about our future, and before I knew it he was on one knee asking me to marry him!”
“Our wedding day was a dream… it was a romantic and intimate celebration with our friends and family. The ceremony was our favorite part—it was the beginning of our lives together and so special to be there in front of our loved ones. The historic charm, candles, and romantic white flowers made the ambiance timeless, classic and elegant,” says Katie.
Congrats to the newlyweds!

Childhood Best Friends Wed at Northgate Country Club
When we say Houston couple Jessica and Trung go way back—we mean it. They met in 8th grade on Halloween night when a big group of friends went trick-or-treating together, and later became the best of friends in 11th grade. “I told Trung I had a crush on him and he asked me out shortly after,” recounts Jessica.
Years later he found the right moment to pop the question during a romantic vacay in Hawaii. “We were en route driving from Maui to Hana, and we stopped by a no-trespassing mile marker in search of a waterfall. Once we reached the waterfall, he got down on one knee,” says Jessica. She said, “Yes,” to spending the rest of her life with her best friend (aww).
Jessica tells us, “We aimed for a simple, yet elegant wedding,” and Northgate Country Club gave them the Houston wedding of their dreams.
Some of their favorite moments included the Vietnamese tradition of visiting each table and toasting. “We also had so much fun dancing our hearts out on the dance floor,” says Jessica.
We are so happy for the adorable newlyweds, and sending best wishes!
