Black, White & Emerald Wedding at the Grand Galvez

Calista and Ivan’s love story began in their sophomore year of high school, when fate paired them together in chemistry class. Ivan, a shy teenager at the time, barely spoke to her at first. It wasn’t until their mutual friends started hanging out together that the two finally connected and began talking. Eventually, Ivan asked Calista to be his girlfriend, and the two dated throughout high school. When college arrived, they kept their relationship strong through countless FaceTime calls and long drives back and forth. After years of long distance and finally graduating, they reunited in Houston.

Calista and Ivan share a love for travel and have always dreamed of taking a ski trip together. They finally made that dream come true with a cozy getaway to Breckendirdge, Colorado. On their last day, Ivan surprised Calista with a fancy brunch. Afterwards, on what she believed was the drive to the airport, he pulled over at a scenic overlook. While they admired the view, Ivan asked her to be his forever. “It was everything I could’ve asked for and more,” the bride shares.

In January of 2023, Calista and Ivan pledged their love to one another in a black, white & emerald wedding at the Grand Galvez. Before the ceremony, the two shared a private first look and exchanged vows. Calista received her mother’s “something new” as her “something borrowed”, creating a deeply meaningful moment on her special day. “It was special because it had been worn by all of my cousins on their wedding day, and it made me feel like my aunt (who has now passed) was there with me,” the bride shares. After being pronounced husband and wife, the couple joyfully walked down the aisle as guests showered them with flower petals. The celebration continued with a lively reception filled with dining and dancing. To end their unforgettable night, the newlyweds made a grand exit while guests waved streamers, sending them off in style.
