Blayne Fertitta and Peter Mavredakis first met at a mutual friend’s gathering in Manhattan Beach, but their love story ultimately led them back to Houston for a wedding weekend that celebrated family, tradition, and unmistakable Texas-scale hospitality. Two years after meeting, Peter proposed on a summer afternoon with a stunning ring, followed by an intimate celebration that became even more meaningful when both families—who had secretly traveled in—surprised the couple.
On June 7, the couple welcomed 450 guests to Houston for a multi-day celebration that reflected both Blayne’s hometown roots and the couple’s modern sensibility. Blayne, the daughter of Houston entrepreneur, hospitality leader and owner of the Houston Rockets Tilman Fertitta, the honorable U.S. Ambassador to Italy, proved once again that Houston weddings are known for their grandeur, warmth, and attention to detail.
The Events Company led by the uber talented Richard Flowers conceptualized and created the fabulous décor for every event.
Celebrating Speakeasy Style
The festivities began with a black-and-white rehearsal dinner at the Fertitta family restaurant, Mastro’s Steakhouse. The thoughtfully curated wine selection included Antica Terra of Oregon, the Mavredakis family-owned reserve. The celebration continued with an after-party in a custom-built speakeasy at The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston, aptly named “Navi’s” in honor of the couple’s beloved dog.
The Welcome Party
The following evening, guests gathered for a welcome party at the Toyota Center, home of the Houston Rockets. Guests arrived dressed in shades of pink, red, and white in honor of the groom’s favorite color. Blayne made an elegant statement in a Monique Lhuillier gown, while Peter embraced the theme in a tailored pink suit. The evening featured immersive performances by Élan Artists, including energetic tributes to Beyoncé (Cowboy Carter) and Shaboozey. Custom food stations showcased signature bites from the Fertitta family’s Landry’s restaurant group, offering guests a taste of Houston’s celebrated dining scene.
The Big Day
The wedding ceremony took place at St. Luke’s Methodist Church, a venue rich in family history, as Blayne’s parents were also married there. A string ensemble and heralding trumpets marked the beginning of the processional, followed by a moving performance of “Alleluia” by the Houston Children’s Choir. As the couple sealed their vows with a kiss, guests were surprised by a joyful performance of “Oh Happy Day” from The Choraleers, a renowned Houston-based gospel choir, accompanied by a string quartet.
Houston’s Iconic Celebration
The reception at The Post Oak Hotel Ballroom was an elegant, all-white celebration with elevated dining and wine pairings. A specialty espresso martini bar kept the energy high as the evening transitioned to a penthouse after-party overlooking the Houston skyline. Guests danced beneath cascading white fringe, on an iridescent dance floor, surrounded by mirrored bars and late-night entertainment.
Farewell Brunch
The weekend concluded with a Greek-inspired brunch at the Fertitta family home. In a nod to Peter’s heritage, guests enjoyed coastal cuisine, a Bloody Mary bar, and bougainvillea-filled décor in blue-and-white hues reminiscent of Mykonos.
The newlyweds then departed for a honeymoon through East Africa, the Seychelles, and Dubai before returning home to Manhattan Beach.
