Reena and Ankit’s love story has been years in the making. The childhood friends remained close, catching up whenever they were in the same city. Their friendship deepened during the pandemic, when daily conversations became their new norm. After their long-awaited first date, both felt it was worth trying a long-distance relationship. “Our relationship came as an unexpected surprise to both of us since we had been friends for so long, which, in our opinion, is the best way to start a relationship,” Reena says.

In September 2022, during a dreamy vacation in Greece and Lisbon, Ankit planned the perfect proposal in Santorini. “I don’t remember anything he said, but I do remember his face, the beautiful weather, scenic view, and, of course, how much love I felt for him in that moment. And, of course, the ring!” Reena says.

The couple celebrated their union in November 2023 with a traditional Indian wedding. The festivities kicked off with a colorful sangeet at The Astorian, with dancing and performances. The wedding ceremony was held at the stunning Corinthian Houston, which was adorned with soft-hued florals and verdant greenery.

An intimate cocktail hour followed in The Vault at Corinthian Houston before the grand reception, which dazzled in silver, black and blue. “We spent a lot of time practicing our first dance, so getting to perform that was fun and exciting,” Reena says. The couple’s wedding was made even more memorable, with family and friends traveling from around the world and sharing in a joyful week of festivities together.
