Sarah + Cole
When Sarah and Cole first met, at a mentoring program for students interested in careers in design and/or construction, “It was love at first handshake—at least for me,” Sarah jokes. Encouraged by a friend, she asked Cole out to a Halloween event at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. That’s where he told her that he’d be moving to Atlanta in January for a PhD program. While she was upset at the news that Cole would be leaving soon, “I appreciated the up-front candor. No games, no nonsense. Just honesty,” Sarah says. In October 2017, while hiking near the Colorado cabin Sarah had inherited from her late father, Cole asked Sarah to marry him. “It was just the two of us in one of the most beautiful and meaningful places in my life, and the simplicity and thoughtfulness was absolutely perfect.” The couple wed in the presence of 160 loved ones, with a celebration inspired by Cole’s great-grandmother’s circa-1925 ring, with which he’d proposed to Sarah. The bride recounts with affection the “show-stopping arch made of fresh flowers and greenery,” created by The Events Co., which handled coordination, floral design and decor for the wedding. And she adds that she’ll never forget “dancing with my husband to ‘Midnight Train to Georgia’ as the last song,” and, finally, “getting to sit on a couch in the lobby of Hotel ZaZa and take it all in before meeting friends for an after-wedding cocktail in the hotel bar.”
