Nelson + James
“James’s two favorite things are Lake Travis and the Fourth of July,” Nelson explains, “which made for the perfect theme and spot to pop the question.” He says that everyone except James was in on the surprise, “including our dog Izzy, who was instructed to follow the jars of fireflies down to the dock,” where Nelson waited to ask his beloved James to marry him. Their beautiful November wedding at Hughes Manor was “modern and elegant, but also comfortable,” Nelson notes, pointing out the chic gray and navy linens, mercury-glass votives and arching bundles of slender calla lilies that filled the celebration space. The best part? “Before being walked down the aisle by our parents, we decided to be blindfolded and led to adjacent areas behind where our guests were seated. Our moms removed our blindfolds, giving us the first look we wanted to experience. What we didn’t realize was that our guests would be able to see the entire thing!” Also: “Our bulldogs Izzy and Piper strutted down the aisle in pink tutus and stole the show the entire way!”
