Lana + Samir
After meeting through family friends, Lana and Samir instantly clicked. "Our first date lasted five hours!" recounts Lana. On Aug. 28, 2018, Samir proposed to Lana at Mount Bonnell in Austin and surprised his bride-to-be by arranging to have her family and friends on hand to celebrate with them. For their fall wedding, the couple exchanged vows in a breathtaking church ceremony where Samir's most cherished moment was seeing his bride walk down the aisle to meet him. Noted Houston design firm Royal Luxury Events transformed the Omni Houston Hotel into a reception fit for royalty, with lush white draping, cascading greenery, ivory flowers, an opulent marble backdrop and an aisle accented with gold. The couple and their guests feasted on organic-wild-mushroom soup, beef tenderloin and poblano-glazed salmon. When it came time to cut the six-tier Italian-cream wedding cake, Samir and Lana ditched the classic cake knife and opted to cut it in the traditional Middle Eastern way—with a sword!
