“With no preamble or major fanfare, sitting with our foreheads touching, and looking down into the space between us, I heard a soft, ‘Will you marry me?’” Jessica recalls. “I seriously wasn't sure if Trey had said it or if I had just imagined that he had asked what I had so wanted him to. I took a moment and asked myself if I did, in fact, want to marry him, and without hesitation, I heard my heart say, ‘Yes,’ and so I echoed my heart’s answer.” And just like that, this California girl married her third-generation-Houstonian boy, with an intimate ceremony beneath The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa’s iconic giant oak tree, followed by a food-focused celebration with a “French garden party via California and Texas” feel, notes the bride. Amidst garlands of roses and eucalyptus (a nod to California), and garlands of Magnolia (in homage to Texas), guests sipped signature bride and groom cocktails (mojitos for her, old fashioneds for him), dined on steak au poivre and deconstructed Caesar salad, and marveled at the artist on hand cutting custom silhouettes of each and every celebrant. Even with all the mingling, dining, and conversation, the couple still found a moment just for themselves: “When ‘Love Is A Many Splendored Thing’ played during dinner, Trey turned and took my hand and asked me to dance with him as his wife,” Jessica recounts. “We were the only ones on the floor, and, in my mind, the only ones in the room.”
