Deepthi + Rushil
Deepthi and Rushil’s love story began in Birmingham, Ala., where they met while completing their ophthalmology residency programs. The two explored their adopted city together: “Through concerts, jazz festivals and checking out the restaurant scene, we grew much closer,” Deepthi says. “From then on, it has been a journey of amazing adventures as best friends.” So when Rushil proposed on their graduation day, with the special help of a few recruited family members and friends, it’s no wonder that Deepthi said, “Yes!” She recalls the occasion as “one of the best days of my life.” The day before their wedding, the couple embraced their Indian culture with a street-bazaar-themed sangeet, bringing both families together “to perform lively dances and skits, and to get everyone ready for the big day.” The pair’s 450-person wedding took place at the Hilton Americas Houston, and featured traditional South Indian fare, as well as a gorgeous six-tier wedding cake with gold accents and cascading ivory flowers, courtesy of Who Made The Cake.
"The reception was amazing! DJU did a phenomenal job creating my dream of a romantic starry night, and the cake was to die for—both delicious and beautiful." - Deepthi
