While they met in 2010 as athletes attending the same college, it wasn’t until Brian mentioned the film “Why Did I Get Married?” on Twitter that he and Stephanie had their first real conversation. A friendship ensued, followed by a long courtship, until July 4th, 2017, when Brian proposed to Stephanie, surrounded by his closest family members. Amidst laughs, games, food and fireworks, Brian sat playing cards with gathered guests, “as I was cluelessly scrolling through Facebook,” Stephanie says. “Little did I know the whole family was watching my every move,” as Brian waited for the right moment to pop the question. One year later, on Galveston Island, the couple wed in the presence of 150 loved ones, with an outdoor ceremony beneath a canopy of flowers by Plants N’ Petals, followed by an evening of dining, dancing, and, in the words of the bride, “the best cake anyone has ever eaten,” courtesy of top Houston baker Cakes By Gina. And while the bride says planning her Galveston wedding while Brian lived overseas playing professional basketball (his twin brother Brad plays for the Boston Celtics) was difficult–“We would FaceTime or I would send photos to Brian so he could be a part of the decision process”–the hard work paid off. “All in all, the love we share was felt by everyone who attended,” she says. And isn’t that what a wedding celebration is all about? Congratulations to Stephanie and Brian, and big thanks to Civic Photos for capturing this breezy, beautiful, joyful occasion!
