A Texas Wedding with an Intimate Vineyard Reception 

Weddings in Houston’s General Manager, Sue, and Craig met doing their favorite thing: karaoke. Sue’s friends pointed out Craig and said, “That man can sing!” Sue walked up to him and asked if he would sing something for her. He chose Willie Nelson’s “Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground.” Sue says, “I was lost in his cowboy hat, gorgeous green eyes, amazing voice, and kind smile.” That first song set the tone for a love story that would later unfold into an intimate Texas celebration, complete with a romantic wine vineyard reception.

After about a year and a half of dating, Craig called Sue’s father to ask for her hand. A month later, he proposed on a secluded beach near La Paz, Mexico, using his 94-year-old mother’s wedding ring, which she had given to Craig for Sue. “It’s a beautiful ring that symbolizes so much love,” Sue says.

They married on July 19, 2025, in an intimate ceremony in Mount Pleasant, Texas, with family woven into every detail of the day. Sue’s brother walked her down the aisle, she carried the Bible her mother had carried on her wedding day, and Sue’s father officiated. Their beloved pup, Lucy, attended and wore a pearl collar for their Texas wedding.

After the ceremony, the group celebrated with dinner at a nearby vineyard, where an acoustic guitarist took requests. Sue and Craig shared their first dance to George Strait’s “I Cross My Heart.” They used the cake topper from her parents’ wedding cake, 59 years earlier.

Several months later, the couple hosted an intimate wine vineyard reception with more loved ones at a restaurant meaningful to Craig’s family. Guests enjoyed filet mignon, lump crab beignets, and other favorite dishes. Sue says, “Later in life, love hits different. I know I will love, cherish, and adore him for the rest of my life.” Craig adds, “Together, we are just better.”
