We love a good “road obstacle” proposal story…don’t you?? “Brett proposed at my family ranch on Easter weekend of 2017,” bride Ashley tells us. “On the road leading up to our ranch my uncle and dad had strategically placed a large branch in the middle of the road, so while we were driving, we had to stop to move it. When I starting walking back to the car, I turned around and Brett was on one knee asking me to marry him! My whole family and Brett’s parents were at the ranch to celebrate afterwards. It was the perfect weekend!” But here’s what wasn’t so perfect:
They both love tropical fruit, coconut water and spending their weekends cooking, and doing bible education work. They both name kindness and dedication to family as the qualities they love most in each other. And on one fine spring day, at a castle-like Houston wedding venue, Lisa and Melbon both said “I do,” in front of 100 close friends and family members. Their wedding celebration, which incorporated the couple’s Caribbean, Portuguese and Indian cultures, surrounded gathered guests with beautiful, larger-than-life white, blush and peach flower arrangements and tons of candles, courtesy of Houston floral design firm Plants N’ Petals. A rustic-elegant Texas barn wedding with a romantic palette of green, blush and burgundy, for an adorable couple who first met in sixth grade?? Yes, please! We’re delighted to present to y’all Alexis and Matthew, who celebrated their nuptials on a sweet spring day at a fancied-up Montgomery barn in the presence of 120 loved ones. There’s so much to love about this couple and their beautiful wedding (made exponentially more beautiful by League City-based Haute Flowers & Events, who provided flowers and decor for the occasion). From the vintage-furniture touches, to the glittering accents of gold, to the “string lights and candles everywhere,” the bride says. Please join us in wishing Alexis and Matthew congratulations, and a life filled with love, sunshine and…outdoor adventures (they both love hiking, and Matthew proposed at the bottom of a waterfall!!). As a Baylor University student, Shannon met Chandler through All University Sing. He was the chair for Kappa Sigma and she was the chair for Kappa Kappa Gamma. The pair quickly bonded and became inseparable. “We had monthly meetings and always ended up sitting together and laughing throughout the whole thing,” recalls Shannon. Wishing to take their relationship to the next level, Chandler, with a bit of assistance from his dad, took Shannon out for a romantic evening flight over downtown Houston and the Trinity River. Upon landing, “Chan started to give me ‘the speech,'” Shannon recounts. “I was SO confused as to why he was getting so emotional after this plane ride.” Click here to read the rest of this post »
Faye and Oussama were connected before they ever met—their families were long-time friends and the pair knew of each other but never spoke until the summer of 2013 when they both happened to be in Lebanon visiting family. “We ran into each other at the beach and instantly felt a connection. We spent the entire week together, and hit it off! Oussama and I ended up dating each other long distance for almost two years,” says Faye.
Faye gave us all the deets on how Oussama popped the question: “It was our two-year anniversary. After dinner, we went home, and once I walked in I noticed one of the rooms had lights strung all over the walls and candles everywhere. Oussama then handed me a Starbucks cup with my favorite coffee cup that said, ‘Will you marry me?’”
She wore a gorgeous strapless Maggie Sottero wedding dress from Weddings by Debbie, and her bridal party wore rose gold sequined dresses.
For their wedding reception, a jewel-tone color palette with gold accents brought depth and glamour to their chosen Art Deco wedding theme.
Favorite moments? “Our traditional Arab grand entrance to the reception. It was so special,” recounts Faye.
Congrats to the newlyweds, and thanks Civic Photos for the beautiful pics!
