White, Gold, Champagne & Green Wedding at The Houstonian Hotel

Mona and Aamir are what we like to call a jet-setting couple. They met in New York City, he proposed in Chicago, and they got married in Houston! Their multicultural wedding weekend went a little something like this: It started with a mehndi—a South Asian ritual ceremony with henna and dancing followed by an intimate nikkah—a Muslim wedding ceremony—at home.

The last day of their nuptial celebrations was a lavish Persian wedding ceremony at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa. “It was held in the Grande Ballroom which truly captured the essence of the sophisticated feel we were going for,” says Mona.

Dream Bouquet decked out the reception with tall white and lush green floral centerpieces and placed green boxwood panels on the walls to add an outdoorsy touch to the decor.

“One of our favorite moments was when our friends picked both of us up in a chair on the dance floor,” recounts Mona. And we gotta say…it’s one of ours, too. Congratulation to the newlyweds, and thank you for sharing your beautiful celebration with us, and our followers!

Designer Sameera Faridi Celebrates 100 Years of Bollywood with a Fabulous Fashion Bash

It’s not often that Houston gets to launch a famed Indian design house—especially in such grand style. But grand style is par for the course for Sameera Faridi of Sameera Faridi Design Studio at Poshak Fashion & Style, which turned out top New-Delhi-based designers Parvesh Jai, who have been outfitting Bollywood gorgeously for the better part of nearly 10 years. Faridi, whose eponymous atelier has enabled Houston brides of South Asian backgrounds to find spectacular custom wedding and special-occasion wear sans overseas travel, feted Parvesh Jai with “The Royal Saga”—a riveting fashion show celebrating 100 years of Bollywood style, held at the Houston Motor Club, followed by a VIP reception attended by local trend-setters and fashion media. Check out a sampling of pix from Faridi’s fantastic event…and check out Faridi herself—and her amazing designs—at Sameera Faridi Design Studio!

La Torretta Weekend Wedding with Football, Mad Libs, Bollywood and More

“Staying true to our Indian traditions and our Southern roots, Rushi and I wanted to include special touches that showed our personalities for our big weekend, so our first decision was to have our wedding outside of Houston, at the gorgeous La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa right off Lake Conroe in Texas,” says Houston bride Shilpa about her wedding to Rushi. “Our weekend-long celebration started with guests greeted with fresh-baked cookies, lemonade and handmade welcome bags upon check-in. Guests were then directed to an LSU viewing party Friday afternoon to enjoy the LSU vs. Arkansas game with fellow guests and Tiger fans. The colorful Friday night garba/raas festivities began with a live drum player and DJ, followed by an Italian pasta bar for dinner, king cakes fresh from Baton Rouge and homemade Indian sweets for dessert.” And that was just Friday’s fun. For Saturday’s wedding, perfect weather set the scene for a joyful celebration where guests sipped mango lassis alongside American-style cocktails, did custom wedding Mad Libs, and sat at floral-draped tables to dine on divine Indian specialties. As fine photos by New York photographer Trent Bailey show, “The reception continued with all-night dancing, personalized coozies and glow sticks, and all-around joy and happiness as two families became one, and two people became lifelong partners in this journey of life!” If there’s a better reason to celebrate, we sure don’t know what it is. Congrats, Shilpa and Rushi, and thank you so much for sharing your magnificent wedding with us, and all our brides.
