A Coastal Summer Wedding at The San Luis Resort & Spa

Marlee and Blake met through his sister, who was also Marlee’s roommate and sorority sister at Texas A&M. Little did she know her sorority sister would soon become her sister-in-law. Marlee and Blake’s friendship quickly grew into romance.

On a seemingly ordinary Friday night, Blake planned an intimate proposal. Before their usual dinner out, he stepped away for a moment and returned with a ring, dropping to one knee. The bride says, “I’d always dreamed of a private proposal, and he pulled it off perfectly.” After Marlee’s “yes,” the couple celebrated at their favorite restaurant before heading to a surprise after-party with close friends and family.

Marlee and Blake were married on a gorgeous evening in Galveston. Following a church ceremony, they took portraits on the lush lawn of The San Luis Resort, Spa & Conference Center, with the Gulf as their backdrop. The celebration continued inside the resort’s ballroom, where a palette of light pink, green, and white created a subtle tropical feel. Towering white floral centerpieces with palms brought the space to life, while a custom dance floor mirrored the bridesmaids’ pastel gowns. A four-tier cake with seashell-inspired detailing by Cakes by Gina was the perfect finishing touch.

The bride’s favorite moment came at the end of the night when she and Blake danced to “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” from the movie Dirty Dancing. The bride says, “It was the perfect ending to the perfect day, and in that moment, I honestly felt like I was in a movie.” She changed into a chic blue floral mini before their white-petal send-off.
