Tori and Miles first met at Baylor University in their law school orientation, which later led to a series of dates that never ended. On Valentine’s Day in 2020, on a trip to a law school competition, Tori was walking the bustling streets of New York City with her classmates. Her flight was scheduled for later that day back to Waco, where Miles was waiting. However, her classmates and family had another plan in mind for her. Tori mindlessly followed the group of students on the way to a brunch spot which happened to be tucked near a stunning view of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline, which lead to the perfect picture opportunity for the group. “Once I started going down the stairs, I saw Miles. I immediately started crying happy tears because I knew what would happen. He proposed down by the river with a gorgeous backdrop, and both of our families were there to see it,” says Tori. Miami Beach Engagement Shoot By Civic Photos
The story behind Peter and Emelie’s Miami Beach engagement shoot is one of risk-taking, romance and resilience. Peter was living on the Caribbean island of St. Barts when he came across Emelie on Tinder. “She was visiting from Sweden and was on the neighboring island of St Martin,” Peter explains. “I bought her a boat ticket and shipped her right over. We hit it off AMAZINGLY!” A year later, the couple was living on St. Barts when Hurricane Irma barreled down on them, destroying their home and forcing them to flee. “It was a terrifying experience, to say the least,” Peter says. Fortunately, Peter and Emelie were able to find an apartment near the beach in Delray, Fla. And photographer Barett Henry, of Houston-based Civic Photos, was able to capture the essence of the “paradise” they had left behind, in their lovely Miami Beach engagement shoot. “Barett found such a beautiful location for us to shoot at, on the sands of Miami Beach, with a tropical vibe that takes me back to where we first met on St. Barts in the Caribbean,” Emelie says. “I especially love the photographs of Peter and me by the rooftop pool, with the high-rises and big-city feel that our new life in South Florida offers, in the background.” Big thanks to Civic Photos for sharing these sublime images, and to Peter and Emelie for sharing their harrowing, and, ultimately, happy, love story!
