Magnolia Hotel $750 “Romance Getaway” GIVEAWAY

magnolia hotel houston romance weekend giveaway exterior downtown

The Magnolia Hotel Houston is not just one of our favorite downtown venues for sophisticated, cosmopolitan weddings…it’s also the sponsor of this week’s fabulous $750 “Romance Getaway” GIVEAWAY!

Nestled in the heart of downtown Houston, just across the street from stately Christ Church Cathedral, the Magnolia Hotel blends Houston history with contemporary elegance in a one-of-a-kind setting. Major renovations to the hotel, completed earlier this year, take their design inspiration from the building’s history as a former newspaper/radio conglomerate. A 1926 historic landmark, this Marriott Tribute Portfolio property is the former home of the Houston Post Dispatch newspaper, and, later, the corporate offices of Shell Oil Co. Today, you’ll find a “Texas Parlor” atmosphere at the Magnolia, with an “ink-inspired” palette of dark charcoals and deep indigos contrasted with gleaming wood surfaces and distinctive ironwork. I thought, “‘Oh my gosh, is he going to propose??'” Julie recounts. “But it didn’t happen.” The next morning, as the couple was leaving their hotel, “We walked down to the front of the hotel overlooking the beach…and right up to an arrangement with a bunch of photos of us, flowers, and a sign that read, ‘Marry me.’ I was in shock! I had no idea what was happening at first, he had caught me so off guard.” While planning their wedding, both Julie and Kevin, along with the rest of the city of Houston, were caught off guard by a much less pleasant surprise: Hurricane Harvey.
